Phantom III vs Shameless Self Promotion - Bot Brawl Anime North 2024

This was a very close one! Ended up losing a split JD. The idea was to use my ground game advantage to deprive him of control points as much as possible, and I think I did a pretty good job of pushing him around for a lot of the fight, as well as using my weapon throughout the fight to show its effectiveness. Judges don't always register when a weapon is turned off strategically, though, and horizontals have to work hard for control points. But I think the flip up against the wall is probably where I lost, as it would've been a KO if he hadn't knocked me back down. I'll get ya next time Seth!
A personal W is that this is the first time I've ever successfully used the drive to self-right in a fight, which is something I've been trying to do for years, all the way back to the earliest concepts for Phantom II. So that feels good at least!

Definitely was a close fight, watching it back the control as a lot more split than I thought at the time. The JD scoring at Bot Brawl is 8 points for damage, 6 for aggression and 5 for control I believe. This makes it hard to come back from a damage deficit as a control bot, especially a 7-1 split as was likely the case here. I think aggression may have worked in my favor as when your blade was not spinning I was seen as being more aggressive.
