I have to admit it I had having fun playing tactical wheres Waldo too. I spotted you most of the time because I hunt and you showed me in the beginning what I was hunting for. If you were in a larger urban environment and I didn't know what the camouflage look like, it would be difficult to spot you. I think it would be highly effective against a non-professional fighting Force. The only thing I would do if I were Brent is do the demonstration first so they dont know what they are looking for. Then I would talk about the maker and the camo. This might stop the derpes from saying how easy it was to spot you. Its effective stuff
@davidthorp014 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I was doing, got it wrong a couple times, but I might just have a sense for good hiding spots. I just generally approach areas that I’m unfamiliar with that sort of approach; good spots for trouble to come from, where could ‘I’ go if I need to duck out, ect. A larger Urban Environment may very well make this damn hard to find. Like add 200/300 Yards and we might get into a tough spot in finding Waldo, ya know? Might need some additional tweaking if I’m honest, but it’s already very good. I’d like to know what would happen if we changed the color pallet to fit the other environments better? I think the white/gray clashed too much in the dry grassland/desert zones. It did much better in that more gravel looking zone; he looked like a Rock if you weren’t genuinely paying attention. That also might have been a factor like you said; that the design was already demonstrated to us, and we knew what to look for. An unconventional/non-professional force might genuinely miss it. Conventional forces may or may not depending on a variety of factors. How bad would they stick out if wet? And a few other things would be important to know too.

I was really impressed with how well the camo blended in with this urban environment. Had I not known what to look for, or that the two individuals were present, I likely would not have spotted either of you easily at all. I believe that in a real world environment where I'm scanning a much larger sector, I would not be likely to spot you until you moved which defeats all camoflauge I've ever seen. I was a scout in the Army for 8 years with 2 combat deployments and 2 years of playing OPFOR at NTC.

This is an unimaginable combo of ultra badass and effective in the urban environments. I can see the brown part of this camo working in some sandy areas, but the brighter tan parts are kinda giving it away. As Brent pointed out, it seems to blend in nicely in the rocky hills and badlands, that brighter tan plays its part there. Man, it's brutal. If you were to stand with a white wall behind you in a building complex, it will stick out though. I think that's why you can draw differences between abandoned buildings, unfinished buildings and demolished or heavily damaged buildings. Some streets are different to others, but man... I'd take this over a woodland or desert pattern in town any day! Interesting to note in this sentence from the product description on their website Made by German manufacturer Leo Köhler GmbH & Co. A fantastic location for filming. The height of the ruins is just right so the concrete really contrasts with the surrounding green fields and the remaining structure hasn't been vandalised. Top stuff mate. Seeing as you already have the uniforms I have a suggestion. Do the demo in your normal North Texas woods with this camo, both in Winter and Summer. There is a reason I suggest it: I am in Tasmania, Australia, a cool, wet temperate environment with a lot of evergreen bush/forest. Once on an Army exercise the enemy/opfor were given Australian Navy camouflage uniforms, which are predominantly grey in colour (Imagine Auscam but in varying shades of grey, with the occasional green dot). It was excellent and ten times better than the auscam we were wearing. This urban demonstrated here in this video might give some pleasant surprises in your neck of the woods.

Good video as always. It shows how difficult it is to blend in well to the urban environment, since said environment has lots of straight lines, and flat surfaces with uniform colour, texture and patterning. These tend to render Disruptive Pattern Material style camouflage ineffective. That said, there were a few times I didn't notice either one or both of you before you moved, so if I were an enemy combatant I would have been body-bagged by then. Factor in the observer having to deal with dust, rain, smoke, stress, sleep deprivation, hunger, dirty lenses on gas masks / safety goggles, low light conditions and only risking quick glimpses over or around cover for fear of being shot themselves then I can see this being pretty effective.

From the introduction, the camo looks to be effective. As the test was conducted, I could spot the both of yous 100% of the time in both environments. It's just due to the lines in concrete breaking up when it meets the body. Works somewhat better in the shade. As for the desert environment, I believe the pattern is right on, but the colors need to be adjusted. The whites really contrast against the rest of the terrain. With optics being more prevalent on weapons, I don't think the urban camo works out well.

I found that they kept using corners, so I kept finding them. There was a spot at 5:45-6:00 where if he was standing where he was at the end, I probably would've missed him while the other guy was silhouetted. The camo works in shadows at the midsections of walls pretty good.

Hey Brent love these videos you're doing great work here. That said I agree with some the commenters here talking about doing a test for UCP in the urban environment. I've been looking all over KZbin for someone testing it and haven't found anyone with a video covering it. I think it would be great if you found another similar location and give UCP a shot. I think it could be fairly effective in that environment and would love to see how it performs and holds up. Thanks!

Their site shows no one in North America selling this. Maybe you can be the first vendor here in the U.S!

I think it works really well. The problem with a urban environment is that there is no concealment as there is in a forest or even a field, so seeing depth is a lot easier because of the definitive and hard lines of the concrete. You can't flatten yourself like a pancake on the floor, but if you could and the only distinguishing feature would've been the colours... Then this would be invisible.

Wow, that's effective. Might need this in a few months.

This is about as good as its gonna get for civilian urban camo!, but, that Phantomleaf Z4 shit is expensive as hell and only the one online retailer he linked to sells it, its not available anywhere

Great video as usual. That is probably the worst kind of enviroment to try to camouflage your self in :D From the limited view of my screen I think this pattern would benefit from burlap strips in sand, dark earth, olive drab and brown leaf colours to break up the profile and add some disruptive features to it. KZbin did not notify me on this video despite having the bell activated...

Given that it's very good for what it is, but still ultimately much easier to spot than other camos in other environments, it begs the question, is Urban Camo even worth it? Particularly if you factor that engagement ranges will be closer, if its a more dense/built up environment?

Theorically, the desert pattern camos could work at urban environment too? I mean, the sun light at urban environment looks pretty similar to desert, so, I think if this Urban camo works so great at desert, so, the desert camos could work at urban environment too, isn't it?

Really works good in the rocks and small hill right before the 11:00 mark

Reminiscent of the SS Stone or Rock pattern that is almost invisible against rocks and stone buildings. Given the bare environment it works well especially in Shadow no excessive flare in sunlight 👍👍. One of the best Urban Cammo Patterns I've seen produced. Did a search for the SS photo can't find IT the photo was taken just far enough away to fit his body in with raised hands with 2 US guards it was so good his body was almost impossible to pick out against the stone building hands and face were all that was clearly discernable.
