Your video is inspiring sir! I'm also moving to Canada (Calgary, AB) my wife is actually bringing me there from the US. I am transitioning from automation testing to SD. I'm currently honing my skills in html, css, and JS I also have a degree in SE from the US. I have some experience with python, sql, and red hat linux but I don't used it a lot at work pretty much I used it here and there or sometimes not at all for a very long time. Hopefully by the time I get there I already have sufficient skill to land an SD job. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hello Woody, Thanks for watching. Calgary is fast becoming a technology hub for new startups, so definitely, lots of job opportunities. You will most likely have little to no problem getting a software engineer position in Canada due to your combined Software Engineering degree and Automation Testing experience. My only suggestion would be to learn at least one of the popular JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular or Vue. If you want to consider full-stack positions, then, add Flask or Django framework to your existing Python skillset. All the best with your relocation and job search.

But pharmacists are paid almost 120k while software developers 65k, why transitioning??
@pharma-code Жыл бұрын
In Canada, provisional licensed pharmacists earn between $70K - $80K, while, fully licensed pharmacists earn between $90K - $130K based on location, years of experience, work hours, ownership, etc. In Canada, junior software developers earn $50K - $65K, intermediate developers earn $80K - $100K, while, senior developers earn $100K - $150K (or more) based on location, industry, years of experience, etc. You can watch my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3e6f3SLp8umh8k In summary, the salary expectations in both professions are not so distant from each other (potentially more in software development as you gain years of experience). More importantly, passion and personal fulfillment trump monetary gain every time. Being able to daily enjoy what you do is the most important thing in life, as opposed to how much you earn. That's my personal opinion.

Thank you Nelson for watching. Great work with learning Python. As you desire software development, if you want web development, I would suggest you learn Flask or Django framework along with any front-end framework like React, Vue, or Angular. Add at least one (1) relational database. Learn as much as you can and get the skills. Create at least two (2) main projects with their code-base hosted on GitHub using these frameworks to further hone your skills. Migrating to Canada is a good goal. Unfortunately, I can not be a guide as I am not a licensed immigration consultant. I can only share from my experiences as I migrated as a Permanent Resident via the Federal Skilled Worker Express Entry program. The summary/high level steps include: 1. Get your IELTS 2. Get your evaluation with PEBC 3. Create an Express Entry profile 4. Await an invitation 5. Submit your supporting documents 6. Await your approval and passport request 7. Land in Canada as a permanent resident

Your story is quite inspiring, please I need your advice I studied computer science, and during my school days I taught myself C# and I used it to design standalone software for final-year students, later run due to a job I got as of then I stopped, but I used WordPress to do a side job for people. Last year, I decided to go back to c# but this time I specialize in ASP MVC, Jquery, Javascript, and JSON and since then I have been working on different projects. Now I plan to move to Canada with my family but don't know if those tools (languages) I know are enough for me to get a job over there. Because I'm looking at 4 months' times Thanks

Thank you for sharing your story Pharm. I studied Pharmacy in OAU as well, I just completed my internship and I'll be going for my NYSC in July. I developed interest in data analytics in my final year and I've since taken different courses and certifications. I currently freelance as a Data analyst on upwork and I want to switch completely after nysc. I'm thinking of going for Msc data analytics in Canada but the entry requirements is a problem (bachelors in stats, maths, computer science, etc). All schools I've checked so far require a relevant bachelors degree. What would you advice?
@pharma-code Жыл бұрын
Hello Pharm Rodhiyat, Great Ife!!! Thank you for watching and reaching out. Kudos to you on your Data Analyst journey. As regards a Masters program, I would suggest that you send an email to the school to confirm if Pharmacy would be acceptable as entry/admission requirement. Do not automatically disqualify yourself. Just send an email for clarification. You may also explore adjunct career paths like Masters in Data Science, AI and ML (those are also great career paths if you are interested). Again, if Pharmacy is not listed as entry/admission requirement, send an email to them for confirmation or clarifications. I wish you all the best in your endeavours. I do hope we keep in touch, Pharm.

And as in my case as a software developer I should apply it through Express Entry program? Hope to get reply from you!

Hello, Thanks for watching. 1. No, you do not need to be a Canadian PR first to apply for Canadian jobs. There are some companies willing to provide work sponsorship for developers/engineers outside Canada. There are also companies like VanHack - vanhack.com/ that can help developers/engineers find Canadian companies with sponsorship. 2. Yes, you can also explore the Canadian Express Entry program in addition to following #1 above. All the best with your plans!

Good day sir I love this 😍. I hava à Bsc biomedical science degree and microbiology postgrad . I really want to cross over to tech and the easiest path so far seems to be Data analytics due to being denied entry into MSc data science and data analytics in the unis I applied to . I however have discovered postgrad diploma in data analytics and pgdp on business intelligence analytics , they say as long as you have a degree you can be admitted , community colleges like NBCC and others are offering these courses , would you recommend that as a starter then build up on my skills once I complete that in Canada ?
@pharma-code Жыл бұрын
Hello Dr. Manny, Thank you. Yes, both Data Science and Data Analytics are really great careers in Canada. I would suggest that you continue to try out other universities for MSc Data Science. You can email the admissions department to verify if you meet admission requirements before paying & applying. On the other hand, studying in community colleges is also great. In Canada, where you study does not really matter, as long as it is a Canadian institution, employers will be open. So, I encourage you to continue to search, inquire and apply. First Data Science, second, Data Analytics. All the best with your plans!

Hello Adewale, There are a number of ways to switch careers. The common ways include: 1. Going back to school 2. Going to a boot camp 3. Learning on your own by following online courses or tutorials They each have their unique opportunities and challenges that vary from costs to time to ease. Personally, I followed #3 then #2. So, you can try out the boot camp and personal learning routes. It would require lots of dedication and perseverance.

If your goal is to get a software developer role specifically, you will need to learn software development skills. You can choose to learn on your own via online courses or register for a university program or join a bootcamp. I would recommend either a University program or a Canadian bootcamp because they would issue a Canadian certification and most likely help with internship placement, which is good for Canadian experience. On the other hand, if you already have a computer science or technology-related education, then, this might not be needed. Either way, you will also need to learn how to pass technical/coding interviews as well as non-technical) behavioural interviews. Hi Bello, To put things in context, after pharmacy school, I practiced as a pharmacist for a few years, while, doing my software development stuff on the side (concurrently). Pertaining to the FSW Express Entry program, I applied using my B. Pharm degree and pharmacy work experience, using the pharmacist NOC code. So, I evaluated my B. Pharm using PEBC. I hope this helps. Well done with your data analyst training. I trust you've got tons of resources.
