I've never seen anyone teach like this. So much passion and great explanation! I can't image anyone falling asleep in his lectures... It's so great that he acknowledges that the concepts are new to students and he makes it interesting and funny. Thank you so much prof!

I love how this man teaches. He stresses things and explains concepts very well by repeating them multiple times in different ways. He doesn't assume that everyone understands the first time he says it.

Professor Fink!! THANK YOU...THANK YOU!!!! Teaching in this fashion is an ART!!! You are truly gifted and I thank GOD right now that you are helping me in my pharmacology class. There is definitely something to be said for being able to give the "WHY" of the reasons things happen in layman's terms than just giving out information because you know it!

Thanks. going back into school changing my degree from computer science to something more related to Pharmacology, I actually enjoy watching these videos even though I'm not even in school atm (summer, and besides, the only classes I have taken are basic electives/the easy bullshit) I was weary because I was intimidated by the subject at first, but I really enjoyed these lessons.

19:26: Idk if you're open for discussion but personally I feel the structure of the handout is very intuitive (and thus easy to grasp); but if I understood correctly, then I'd change the following: I wouldn't put "agonist" under "(2) intrinsic activity" because being an agonist is a consequence from (1) and (2). So I'd make two extra lines: "Agonist= mimetics= 1)+2)" and "Blocker= 1) but not 2)", while I'd delete (4) Another thing, talking about Gaussian distribution, shouldn't it be ca. 2% on each side for STD 3 or is this a part. of pharma? Question: If it comes to a single effect one would like to achieve via using drugs, e.g. pain relief, wouldn't it always be possible to just take the drug with the highest efficacy and reduce the dose until the dose is equ. to the level of seeked pain relief (given the fact that it is always possible to reduce the dose easily, no legal problems would arise, same side effects etc.)?
@professorfink7 жыл бұрын
Excellent suggestions. Let me just respond to your last point about just using a drug with greater efficacy (such as a narcotic analgesic) at a lower dose, rather than using a drug with less efficacy (such as a non-narcotic analgesic). REMEMBER, drugs differ in their adverse effects and risks. Why take a narcotic and experience some constipation, sedation, and possible physical dependency (if taken frequently) if you could take a non-narcotic (that would alleviate mild pain) and not risk these adverse effects? The same is true for choosing NSAIDS, rather than resorting to Corticosteroids for inflammation (which have far more serious long-term adverse effects).
@xDomglmao7 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your reply; so I understood: the idea I had would work under the given premises I put in brackets ("[...] same side effects") but since it's in practice not possible to have the premises nobody would do it this way. Thanks!

First of All Great Lecture as Usual . But my Professor Stated that Efficacy is independent of Potency which i kind understood but he also said it is independent of Theraputic effect how relevant is that ? * when i took Toxicology we studied that our aim is to decrease dosage for maximum effect yet this seem irrelevant in toxicology why is that ? Thanks :)

Dear Prof. Fink. Wonderful lecture. I am so happy to learn a lot from your lectures. However I have few doubts that arose while I was going through the content. Could you please help me out. I am listing them as below: Q1: Does all aerosols that are inhaled travel to the brain via lungs, be it any type of aerosol particles (such as virus, even)? Q2: How does molecular weight of the drug molecule affects the PK/PD of it? Thanks in advance. 🙏🙏Regards
