One more information: Specific COX2 inhibitors (Coxibs) are avoided in recent MI (Myocardial Infraction) due to its thrombotic properties. Since the medicament inhibits PG synthesis thus reduce vasodilation, and it also spares the function of thromboxane A2 thus raise platelets aggregation, the overall result would be causing a high risk of thrombosis. :D

@@mevideym you're correct! Both paracetamol and acetaminophen are shorthand for N-Acetyl para-Acetaminophenol. The reason for 2 names is because of the different naming system rules in the U.S.

Holy Hell - i know a bit about biochemistry, but this was mind blowing. i had to look up some of the terms. i knew body chemistry was complicated, but this was mind boggling. i understood a lot of it, but was learning most of it, so i’m going to have to listen again and take freaking notes. thank you so very much though. this was fascinating and i needed the visuals to understand at all. what i want to know is - how in the hell did they ever find out about this extremely complicated system!? Geniuses!!!! i just found out about histamines and why fanitidine works for GERD. now i have to find out how Prilosec works and if i should just take fanitidine. and why does butalbital/ acetaminophen/caffeine work, when acetaminophen/caffeine does nothing for my headaches at all??? so thanks so much - your videos are fantastic. i have to concentrate as much as i do when i listen to prof. Sapolsky at Stanford. i love learning like this!! inane smile :) LOL have a great day 🌷🌿🌼🌱🌷

Great Video. However, Inhibiting PG in stomach does not really increase acid production, but reduce the protective layer around the stomach wall which makes the acidity of the stomach more harmful to it's wall.

I always thought that any NSAID that inhibits COX1 would decrease platelet aggregation but through reading, many sources have said that NSAIDs may cause clotting... I don't get it. I understand COX2 inhibitors causing an increase risk of thromosis, but why COX1?
