Nice video, but I think there were some items missing here. Please correct if I'm wrong. Assuming that "of healing"-items are in-game from start, there is gonna be some BiS rares with random stats not mentioned here (e.g. Dire Nail, Flameweave Cuffs, Drakestone). Also, if people don't feel like farming those items, there is gonna be a lot of uncommon BoEs in AH. On top of my head, out of dungeon items seems to be missing at least: 1) For a weapon, Thaurissan's Royal Scepter is better than Spirit of Aquementas. Also, Guiding Stave of Wisdom is pretty much equal to Hammer + Specter. 2) Senior Designer's Pantaloons in BRD is a clear BiS for legs

Hey guys. I've been recently making these lists for our guild as well. It looks like you have most things in order, but I suggest you try to take a look at items that were in the game at launch, however are in their updated state due to itemization making them slightly better than some of the items you have listed. Some of the items concerning priests specifically: Kentic Amice - Item ID: 11624 - Drops From High Interrogator Gerstahn Rosewine Circle - Item ID: 17178- Drop From Urok Doomhowl Guiding Stave of Wisdom - Item ID: 11932 - Drops from Emperor Thaurissan Senior Designer's Pantaloons - Item ID: 11841- Drops From Fineous Darkvire All of these items are on the loot table from launch, so they absolutely adhear to the Phase 1 standards as we know them so far.

So spirit of aquamentas, + 20 healing and no stats. But Thaurissan’s Royal Scepter - 5int, 5stam, 10 spirit, and +22 heals. For pants, Senior Designer Pantaloons are far better.. 7int, 8stam, 18 spirit and +40 healing. For boots, Omnicast are great true but Dragon Rider boots are better - 16int, 5stam, 10 fire resist and +18 heals. Trinkets #1 is second wind but #2 a case can be made for Burst of Knowledge - on use reduces mana of all spells by 100 for 10sec and equip +12 heals. All in all a good guide to start with; but there were a fair bit of omissions. =)

I enjoyed this video but, if you’re up for it, I think this format can be improved by making a longer guide into what is pre-raid bis that goes in depth how to get each piece (such as a quest chain walkthrough) and perhaps the best order for getting the pieces. Either way, great video and I hope you continue to do this for other classes, and maybe what is bis for each phase for each class

Question, So in phase 1 it seems like +healing is by far the best thing you need as boss fights arnt as long as later patches. Would it be benefincial to go pieces of the "Of Healing" for instance a back piece that gives +28 to healing spells, or Bracers that give +22 of Healing?

Sunderseer Mantle, Wyrmthala's Shackles, Guiding Stave of Wisdom, Senior Designer's Pantaloons and Wolfrunner Shoes are all items that should have been mentioned. A few of them are arguable better than the ones you list and the pantaloons and the stave (with intellect enchant) are definitely better.

No. Items ADDED in 1.10 will not be in the game. The are locked out. But tons of Items got CHANGED in 1.10, those Items are of course in the game.

@@rufderrache Yea i just looked it over and this item definitely fell under my radar, i did not think it was added until a later patch but since it was in at launch and updated in patch 1.10 it should have those stats at launch even though it was changed pretty drastically, Sunderseer Mantle is also a pretty good alternative. I made sure to look and see if this happened with any other items and I am pretty sure there is not anything else that would have been put on there. Even though personally i would probably rather have Elder Wizards Mantle due to the high int and only a few less SP/Healing it is definitely a great alternative! Especially since shoulders are hard to come by! Good eye and thanks, I have updated the list to show this item

I’m confused, everything seems to be high in int over spirit. I’ve never had a high level priest but I was under the impression that spirit > int bc of the spell power (talent?) gotten from spirit + the in combat mana regen from another talent. Either way I’ll follow this list and great video

It's also the fact that fights don't last aslong as they used too thanks to advances in theorycrafting,player throughput and technology. More int= larger mana pools,larger heals while extra regen is "wasted" if you really can't get the best value out of it. Unless PS resistance numbers are massively out of whack (which is possible) spirit is worth less than pure int.

So many guides about the priest class get this wrong. Stacking spirit is really only good for healing the main tank, or to a lesser degree - trash pulls. The reason is not only what Daniel Watson points out, but also because high spirit benefits the biggest heals the most. So you want high burst healing on your tank, and sometimes you want to keep a big heal queued up as much as possible, canceling when not needed, thus getting you back outside the 5sr for more mana regen. If you've got high spirit and high + healing, you risk overhealing, unless you downrank, which really cuts deeply into your spirit bonus healing and +healing from gear. MP5 and int is really what you want to stack in general, but having a variety of gear will increase your utility as a healer.

I think having alternatives to some of these pieces would be helpful. Most people won’t have the gold for expensive BoE world drops that are BiS. Just something from a quest or a boss drop (that can be farmed) would be helpful

Alternatives that are fairly easy to acquire: Head - Crimson Felt Hat, Postmaster's Band, Dragonskin Cowl, Dreamweave Circlet (Tailoring, easy mats) Neck - Diana's Pearl Necklace Shoulders - Mantle of Lost Hope (This should be #1 on the list), Thuzadin Mantle Back - Shroud of the Exile, Gracious Cape Chest - Postmaster's Tunic Wrist - Necropile Cuffs (This is a really lackluster slot for a while) Hands - Hands of Power, Mana Shaping Handwraps Waist - None really Legs - Senior Designer's Pantaloons, Wolfshear Leggings Feet - Faith Healer's Boots, Soot Encrusted Footwear Ring - Band of Rumination, Rosewine Circle Trinket - Burst of Knowledge, Shard of Afrasa Main Hand - Mastersmith's Hammer, Hand of Righteousness Off Hand - Tome of the Lost Wand - Wand of Eternal Light A surprising number of great pre-raid items come from BRD.

I suppose that largely comes down to how much gold you are realistically going to acquire. Personally, I don't spend that kind of gold on AH BoE drops like that, as most of it gets replaced by raid gear relatively quickly. Yeah BWL and ZG won't be out for a while, but then, ask yourself do you really need that extra insignificant amount of stats for MC and Onyxia?? Hoarding greater mana pots and any gear, not just BiS, is enough for MC. Hell, it isn't even raid gear. As later "patches" are added, we get access to stuff like Dire Maul which will also replace many of these items. Truefaith may be an exception since it is quite a bit better than other options for a long time. If you are going the tailoring route, of course. You will replace most of these items, you won't ever replace epic mount training :p

No Thuzadin Sash as a recomendation for the waist piece? I though was one of the best pre-raid bis belts Also Wolfrunner Shoes were some of the best boots pre-raid (boe epic boots) I got Maiden's Circle to drop 3 times from trash mobs is Scholo (just putting that out there) Scholo is a great place to farm to pre-raid bis. EDIT: After writting the next paragraph i realized this won't be avaliable till phase 2 when they introduce Dire Maul, but i guess i'll let it here anyway, just in case... for later :D Finaly a good and relatively easy to get trinket is the Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas (10 fire resist, +33 healing) very good for MC and BLW :D Is from turning in the quest from the book "Holy Bologna: What the light won't tell you" that you can farm from Dire Maul, or buy from the AH. Back then i remember this books being relatively cheap, but also they were kinda common drops when runing DM.

Is this based on maximizing your +healing and down ranking spells? I haven't played private servers but I remember back in vanilla that I could prioritize mp5 and spirit gear, go deeper in disc than the holy priests and heal with a higher rank spell and have mana to spare while holy +heal focused priests would go oom halfway through a boss pull while I was spamming away heals...

The math doesn't work out that way. Either those priests weren't being efficient with spells or you weren't healing as much as them. The game has been out for 14 years and people have broken down the numbers time and again. There is some minor tweaks, some tiny differences between some items depending on talents, personal preference, which spells are being used, but the general overall values given are pretty close to ideal. Keep in mind a lot goes into healing than just gear. I would routinely heal more than some others in the raid even though they were better geared. If you were doing better with no +heal and just spirit/mp5, consider that a compliment on your healing. Though you would have done even better if you had placed a bit more focus on +heal.

@@Matthew-uv6gl My HPS and burst HPS was lower but I didn't run out of mana as easily either so I was casting more spells overall for a longer period of time. This was back in 2005-2006 as well remember when the game mechanics were less well understood than today after 14 years of data mining the game. I also didn't have no +heal I just balanced more for mp5 and spirit rather than +heal. I typically had higher mana pools and a decent amount more mana regen than the other healers.

Great guide but you're missing: Crimson Felt Hat (Strath UD), Deep Woodlands Cloak (Hinterlands Elites), Mana Shaping Handwraps (BRD), Rosewine Circle (Ring(LBRS)), and you could also argue that Eye of the Beast (Trinket(UBRS quest)) with it's 2% crit could come in handy, especially since the chance of obtaining Briawood Reed is so low. Almost all of these items can be gotten whilst leveling too.

Remember this is for Phase 1. Crimson felt hat was not added til patch 1.4 which means it will not be in phase 1 like much of the other items you mentioned. This guide is focused on pre raid bis that will be available in phase 1 I will be working on other guides for the other phases at a later date. Eye of the beast is great with its 2% crit, but +healing/spellpower is much more important at this point since it is hard to come by. The only time I would personally use Eye would be if I did not have 1 of the other 2. Also IMO Briarwood Reed is not hard to come by at all, at 60 so many people do UBRS runs, and it is very easy to split up your group find a run with a Jed spawn and do it. Most groups make sure to do a Jed Run every time like this because Briarwood is such a hot item. I was able to get it a day after I hit 60 Thanks. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, the mace they say is +31 healing and no stats, the off-hand they recommend is +20 healing and no stats. The emperor in BRD drops a staff with more total +healing and it DOES have stats.

You know... while i like this kind of videos and everything, i keep wondering if overanalizing the game to death won't just completely ruin the experience for many people... What i mean is, back then, the game was so awesome because we did not know the game... we had to discover many things, step by step... and even if, lets say you used Thotbot to find out something you couldn't solve yourself, you did that AFTER you've found the problem and got stuck. Now people know everything about everything up to the smallest detail, and those that don't... well they will get all the spoilers if they see this videos... What i am trying to say is that, we are trading excitement for knowledge... Once we had learn everything about vanilla, the game turned more into a game of "planning" then an adventure. Obviously there are lot's of old players like ourselves for whom that this is all facts by now... that know the game upside down and just watch this videos for the nostalgia and fun. I realy like these videos. But we did had the luck of being the first ones... the ones that actualy got the experience of being the first explorers, of being there when everything was new and a mistery! I just hope that the people that did not got the chance to actualy experience vanilla first hand, or that maybe just were not super hardcore so may still have things to look out for and discover won't go super hardcore on trying to learn everything before the servers come out. Because the reazon Vanilla was so good was not because of the mechanics, or the visuals, or because the game was slower and the rewards crappy (whoever tells you so is not being completely honest) Vanilla was so good because of the experience. Yes factors like the speed of the game, the rewards being harder to get making them more valuable are part of this... But none of that holds up that well after you know the game too well. Because then you can get the gear you actualy need "faster" by knowing what and when to farm it. Because you can make your grinds, either xp grinds, gear grinds, gold grinds, more "efficient"... And if there's something some of the latest game expansions have showed us... is that "more efficient" does not always equal "more fun". Anyway i just wanted to ran about this for a second. Hope noone gets triggered!

@@DefcampMelderonTV I know but you guys are still missing some important pieces , why spirit of aquamentus ,instead thaurissans royal scepter . +33 healing green bracers is better than any of the p1 bracers out there. Burst of knowledge is a usable trinket unless I missed it Kinetic amice is a shoulder you can use aswell from brd. Do you have a more current / updated video

@@TheMightyFist a lot of those pieces became available shortly before launch and no we don't unfortunately. No resources to go toward it at the moment. You seem to have it down though 😉. There is an updated list on classicwow.live that Defcamp updated. The issue with video is you can't change them once they are up
