For anyone wondering about the unusually large donation ( 17:47 ), there is currently a bug going on with Twitch that is allowing for these fake donation notifications to pop up. As far as I've read at this moment, nobody really knows what is going on or how this is happening, and Twitch has yet to comment on it as far as I know.

As another idea to keep up engagement, you could make purely cosmetic DO skins to sell in the shop for crowns. Make one of them stupid expensive to see if it becomes enough of a status symbol that someone would buy it. Could be a fun social experiment.

I dont know how feasible it would be, but I'd love to see a 'friends and family' event day for Decked Out. Each hermit could invite 1 friend or family member to the server for the day and they could run decked out. (Either solo or in duo with their hermit inviter). Could get Mrs T, Skizz, Bdub and Ren's brothers, maybe Jimmy, etc. Something like the DO opening stream-a-thon but on one of the later phase weeks, or as a final day warp-up party.

You should add stations around the dungeon where players can trade like a coin or something and in return they get a splash potion of healing or something. This would allow players to heal themselves quickly after narrowly escaping a mob rather than forcing them to wait around eating berries in a corner. This could be balanced by changing the cost of different potions but I think it could add a fun “player activated” element to the game while also allowing more versatility when the player has taken a hit. Obviously you could use other splash potions for different situations or even implement some unique new traps but I think this would add a new element that would make the harder levels more playable without the need for a full deck of cards first. I also think the trade off of coins is good because then the player must decide if they want to risk keeping coins to get more crowns or risk some coins for a better chance of making it out alive. Anyways I love the videos and hope this idea can help inspire some fun and unique additions for the future phases of decked out!

That's a fun suggestion, but I think Tango has mentioned on stream that he doesn't want to brew a large quantity of potions for traps (or healing stations) that are going to be used hundreds of times by the Hermits. Some of the design changes between Decked Out 1 and 2 were so that DO2 would be less maintenance overall such as the coin and ember drops. Again, it is a fun idea if it was properly balanced since health potions could to OP if too cheap or placed in an accessible spot.

Tango I think if you give hermits a free key on Sunday there will be better turnout. There are only enough viewers to go around and I understand the other hermits wanting to take their keys and use them for content production. But you also need to be able to host content from your game, so a simple fix would be a 1 free key per hermit who shows up to the weekly sunday event for you to host and stream! Love decked out 2 and all the hermits playing!

I mean, Pearlo has cemented herself near the top as of her stream earlier today. She did 1 Easy, 4 Medium, and 4 Hard runs and went 7/9 winning all the Easy and Medium runs and 2 of the 4 hard runs. She now has 18 total cards with 2 uncommons (Evasion and Jump Boost). She was also able to buy a bonus shard and has enough crowns for 1 more as of her ending stream.

I've noticed a few of the hermits runs that have been very similar to Grian's first run today. There are several compass locations near each other, and some hermits get close and THINK it is pointing to the same location they have been to, but don't do the same precious / verification they had done on the first run. So far it all seems well intentioned, like they arent trying to cheat, but it very easily could lead to accidentally dropping in the wrong spot due to the hermit being in a rush or panicked. I hope that me suggesting this again doesn't come off as pestering or annoying (I assume it just hasn't been seen among all the other great comments), but I mocked up a very simple and compact hopper minecart item filter that is the same shape as the artifact drop off locations, and is only 2 blocks wider (4x3x3 instead of 4x3x1). Upgrading an existing drop off location is very easy and only takes a few extra blocks. It also prevents treasure from activating the artifacts, as well as the item feedback loop of the dropper spitting back into the hopper and cycling. There are at least 80 lodestone drop points throughout DO, scattered across the entire dungeon in assorted spots, so it would take a few hours of work for Tango to replace all of them and verify that each one works correctly. If the hermits using the wrong drop points becomes a major issue, then this is a great design, but it's up to Tango if he feels it's worth it.

I wanted to offer up this design so that Tango's decision could be one of a simple design 80 times, compared to a big bulky and complex design 80 times, when evaluating if it is worth it. It would be a shame if it never got implemented simply due to not realizing a simpler option was available that might make the amount of work fall on the 'worth doing' side of the threshold. And agreed, at the end of the day it's purely Tango's decision and we all along for the ride 😁

The whole snowlayers/tomes/shard distribution/winning structure got infinitely more complicated but infinitely more fair. I think you did a good job of incentivizing players to keep submitting tomes and increasing the overall competitive atmosphere. That was lacking in the first week (not that it made it any less enjoyable). I also think you did a good job of satisfying player's anxieties around not receiving enough shards. It's almost good that they once feared they'd only get 5 because now at least 8 seems like wealth! All the changes you made are very satisfying to me personally as a viewer.

The only thing he changed is how bonus shards will be determined (well, and the amounts). The snow layers, tomes, and overall points thing wasn't changed. If anything, he's reduced the incentive to submit tomes by making it no longer be related to bonus shards. The plan was always that the hermits turn in tomes in order to try to win the current phase, and then the winners of each phase earned cumulative points towards winning overall. That was the whole point of there being phases.

If you let others get too far ahead you can't catch up as the max you can gain each phase is 6 "points", even if you turn in 80 tomes and everybody else only has 5. You had a conversation with Hypno discussing floor 3 and how to incentivize players to move around more, and I have a suggestion! Somewhere on floor 2 or the staircase to floor 3 have a place to trade any keys from levels 1 & 2 for a "Highly Faulty Distraction Device" (egg) that they can use to distract the warden and occasionally (13%ish according to the wiki) spawn a baby chick that runs around and briefly distracts the warden. Giving players a small window of perceived safety might encourage them to run to gain distance on the warden. This also allows the players to have a bit more agency with the wardens. With the ravagers, players can lure them somewhere and break line of sight if the players know what they're doing, with the wardens the player can usually only blindly run away. Giving the players a very simple tool that gives them a very small amount of control I think will have a positive effect on lvl 3 gameplay and give the players a way to spend their keys and rewarding them for the effort of picking them up! Love what you've built, so cool to see the positive response you've gotten!

I think a good post-game idea would be a speedrun book. Each page of the book has a loadstone/compass number. The Hermit turns to that page to receive that compass, and they record their runtime on the page after death. There would be no limit to the amount of runs.

Some ideas I have for Tango: You should have like a dungeon master room, kind of like an air traffic control room. Just somewhere that only you can access, but has a sleep spawn for you, end run override button, close dungeon for maintenance button, etc. Just a place where you can control everything you need from one location and maybe a faster route to get up and down so you can listen in on the dungeon as well. As well, on your main channel you could do like a weekly report where you break down what happened last week, changes you will be making, possible ideas you have for the future, and whatever else you want to report on. Then both the viewers and the hermits have a place they can go to for information on the game and what to expect. Love how the game has turned out and I wish the viewers could play something like this! This has been an incredible feat Tango!

A great idea for a minigame in Decked Out would be to allow two players inside with compasses pointing to the same location, but they have to go against each other to get to the artifact and after the first one exits, the exit door becomes blocked, so the other hermit looses

50:45 this is an edge case, and might not actually be an issue depending on the timings. If players quickdraw reckless charge consecutively, the lengthened audio may not finish playing in time for the second card announcement. Instead of a single long announcement, you could have a short card announcement and, after a 12 second delay, play a short time's up audio.

I had an idea of a crown shop item that's a key to open a bubble column from level 3 to the crypt and you bust out of a tomb. There was one sealed up tomb in one of the sides of the cellar stairway that gave me the idea there should be something behind it, would be perfect for something like this. Could also do it from halfway in level 2: the idea is that it should be worthwhile to spend crowns on, but not so good that it makes things too easy and everybody skips level 2 every time. Idea for max clank: At max clank when trying to exit from lower floors, when the player hits the button to open the door to the top floors they get hit with a slowness potion to make the vexes / ravagers more deadly

If a hermit does not play a phase. You could give them baseline shards for the next phase. this allows them to play but does not reward a player for intentionally not playing (ie not getting more frost embers)

On Lv 3 to encourage sprinting you could put grey wool blocks on the floor around the dungeon alongside the walls allowing players to sprint by the walls without alerting the wardens, but at max clank a piston could push the floor along a block, hiding the wool. When the dungeon resets the floor would be pushed back into position maybe? Idk.

Still loving these D.O.2 live streams! For the naming of ravagers, maybe gift the hermits a couple of embers per kill that they need to bring into the run and survive to use. Also, for warden/mob locating, maybe run around with a bell dinging it to find nearby mobs. Could even yell out "Bring out your dead!" while dinging it for funsies.

An idea I had was seasonal changes to decked out, the frozen crypts could get a cristmas tree in the large open room, me might get Easter in the black mines and the season finale could see a change in the bottom floor as well

A bit late but here's an idea for making level 3 time-sensitive: Have a warden or two in a cage/stuck in the wall that opens up sound-vision at max hazard. This would make hazard more deadly at level 3, and incentivize players to speed up their time there. Can use wool to block out sounds from getting to the hidden warden(s).

@@DarchrowTheEnigma He wants to prevent people from perma-sneaking in level 3. If it triggered on clank it would reinforce that. Hazard is a time based system so a max hazard danger would push players to sneak less and get out fast.

For additional hermit lockers, I think you could roughly allocate the same amount of space out in the middle spaces in each side, maybe one on each end of where the ice and flames are in the middle of the two halves of the room. They would have entrances facing each other toward the middle, and still have three walls that make it private. Downside the blue flames and hopefully it works.

I would say Clank could be low. Yet the deeper you go using the key ups, the clank by a vale based on the level you're going to. So if clank card is pulled at the start, say every 2 minutes each level Key increases clank by .30 seconds. Then at level 4 it's held at that point for a set time before it starts up again. Should be as simple as Redstone to log each key used. If Key 4 is used a piston Redstone block could hold the clock till item is detected or player hits reset button. Some ideas. Good video. Great game.

I still think that each player should have a "log book" that records their runs. It could be one system for all, that differentiates based on a specific ID card sent with the run cards. Once the run's over and that ID card's sent with the rest, the recorder has a box where it dumps different items that are the result of the various processes in the dungeon. For example, Grain enters the run, he wins and gets X amount of shards, buys Y card and whatnot, then he punches the button to receive his stuff and the system has X bits for the shards, y bits for the card he put in etc. Whatever statistic Tango needs.

I think the only exploit with the current scoring system is treasure. You could do treasure runs on easy to get lots of Crowns but few Frost Embers. Then build up a stockpile of treasure cards for the next week's shards.

I don’t see it being that much of an issue, because all shop cards are ethereal, and you will eventually need frost embers to add normal cards to your deck to farm treasure.

@slimecubeboing yes, but the idea I have is that you would build up a decent enough deck that you can farm crowns on floor 1. Then buy crown cards that you wouldn't use until the next phase when you have a lot of shards for lots of runs. Their ethereal, but they're really strong cause of it.
