Correction: Holy Shield does not scale at all Also, forgot to mention in Wrath there is only 1 hit rating stat and it gives you both phsyical and spell hit. You will get slightly more spell hit % per rating than physical hit %. Also, spell hit cap is 17%, as the previously un-removable 1% chance for all spells to resist can now be removed with 1% additional spell hit. Physical hit cap for abilities is reduced from 9% to 8% against bosses in Wrath.

Hey thank you! SoV instant damage and SoC damage scale with weapon damage and you parry haste less often. It will likely depend on the exact duration a mob is alive whether we'll prefer fast or slow, so we may be weapon swapping a bit. Slow should be better overall, but I'm hoping to get beta soon so I can fully test this

In regards to wrath leveling, why would a slower 1-h be advisable? AFAIK prot pallies have no abilites that scales of weapon speed (other than seals, whose dmg is normalized). Cheers!

Seal of Command and Seal of Vengeance instant damage are both based on weapon damage, so a slower weapon is preferred since you can get procs off HotR. I got that from the EJ prot pally guide, but we'll have to wait til beta to verify I suppose

Been lurking for a while now. Just a questiong abou the head/legs. Whats the reason to choose Tier head and non-tear legs instead of choosing Illidan helmet with tier legs? Is it because of Preatorians gives more Stam overall? Going with Ilidan helm+ tier elgs gives more armor, dodge. block etc =) This is of course only relevant until we get the other 3 tokens in sunwell+hands for set bonus but im curious of that chose =)

They just have slightly different uses. The praetorians have a ton of stam and I enchant them with 40 stam/12 agi to lean into that more, so they're really nice for bursty fights like Kalecgos or Felmyst where you can take a ton of damage in a really small window. Faceplate is a great all around piece though, and I use it a lot

I have unwavering leggings from phase 4 but unsure if the inscribed leggings of the Aldor are enough of an upgrade to justify the purchase. Planning for Prepatch more or less. Also, my apologies, but is The Unbreakable will worth enchanting if I just picked it up already (No one wanted it so I took it in my latest Hyjal run)

Hey thanks, glad I can help! Sorry for the slow response, missed this comment. I'd just stick with Unwavering if you're looking at pre-patch, as they get significantly buffed and the Aldor legs get nerfed with the diminishing returns on dodge/parry/miss. There are a ton of good pre patch badge options, but it really depends what you already have. Things like Brooch of Deftness, Girdle of the Stalwart Protector, Sabatons of the Righteous Defender, Shattrath Protecorate's Breastplate, and many others are great in pre patch. Defense up to crit cap, stam, str, hit, expertise, and block value are the main things we're looking for. Unbreakable Will is a decent pre patch weapon, but ideally you'd get something with higher dps. If you aren't able to, then go ahead and enchant it

Hey, any blessing other than wisdom will generate threat multiplied by the number of people buffed. So when there's nothing else to do in your rotation, you can spam whatever blessing makes the most sense on the class you have the most of, which is usually going to be shamans or warriors (hunter pets count as warriors). Just another way to generate threat when you need to

Hey thank you! Crimson Serpent is usually gonna be less sustained threat than DMCV but has the advantage of giving you threat when you want it. So if you're having threat issues on the pull or at a specific point of a fight, such as a certain humanoid wave on M'uru, it could be a good option

Thank you so much for making this video. I was just talking to my GM this morning about Sunwell gearing and how confusing it seems based on the bosses not crushing combined with the debuff. I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on talents - do you plan to run the same build for all of sunwell during progression? Personally I'm unsure what to do. It's unlikely I'll be main tanking for Brutallus, and so I'm wondering if you'd still recommend speccing out of sanc and into ardent defender, especially if I won't be grouped with our ret for sanc. Do you also pick up the lower cd on judgement over the 2 points in deflection for the extra threat from more judgements? Thanks again!

Glad to help! I'm going to respec for each boss. I'm the only one in my guild with ptr experience, so we'll be wiping a lot and I'll get quite a bit of value out of each respec. If you're in a similar situation, I'd just respec for each boss. But if your guild already has some experience, and you're just gonna be cruising through some of the bosses, it's gonna depend on your role for each boss what the best single spec is to use the whole time. If you'll mainly just be kind of a 3rd tank and just tanking trash, you could stay 0/40/21. But if you're gonna be tanking some bosses, everything hits really hard, so I really like deep prot (0/49/12) even without external sanc. I wouldn't drop any points in deflection, but in builds with more than 10 points in ret, I do like imp judgement primarily for the extra Tome of the Lightbringer uptime

Moroes isn't a bad option, just kinda depends what route you wanna go. Since the use effect increases your dodge, it could do nothing or it could do a lot. I prefer a stam trinket + shadowmoon insignia for the guaranteed hp of the stam trinket and SMI just has an insane amount of total stats and great on use. I'd go Commendation of Kael + SMI > Darkmoon Card Vengeance > Moroes depending on what you have

@@albertogarcia8429 flask of blinding light for most things, elixir of Major Defense + elixir of mastery/elixir of Major agi for brutallus (mastery sims a little better but if you aren't avoidance cap without Major agi, that's nice to reduce spikiness), lots of ironshield pots, 30 stam food, bloodthistle, superior wizard oil, sappers, oil of immolation, lots of nightmare seeds, lots of symbols for blessing spam, scrolls of prot and agi V, think that's all of it

Any thoughts on using some Fire Resistance as Alythess tank on twins, and Shadow Resistance as Void Sentinel+Spawn tank on M'uru (if they work like other elemental melee mobs like first boss in MT, and Hydross in SSC)? Looks like almost all of the damage there are fire and shadow damage respectively.

Fire res doesn't affect any of Alythess' spells, so no need. The Void Sentinels and Spawns melee for physical damage. The Spawn's Shadow Bolt Volley is resistable, but it's such a small portion of the overall damage you're taking that SR isn't worth it

I'm not sure I'll have time to make that, but for MT I like deep prot for Kalecgos and Brutallus regardless of external sanc, sanc/crusade for Felmyst depending on if you have external sanc or not, any spec is fine for Twins, M'uru I like sanc if no external sanc for either belf/voids and SoR for voids/crusade for belfs if you do have external sanc, and for KJ sanc if no external and crusade if you do have external. For 3rd/trash tank sanc spec without external and crusade with external. The 3 button is just a blessing spam macro: #showtooltip Greater Blessing of Salvation /cast [@Microhog] Greater Blessing of Salvation

subtle, I must have like autism already grinded exalted for shattered sun. question, if I enchant both rings with +12 SP but drop enchanting... what happens? I know you can get boots of the protector and drop blacksmithing and keep the boots. Would I lose the +12 sp to rings as soon as I drop enchanting?

You don't really need to worry about it. Just make sure you're still crit capped, which shouldn't be a problem. I'm running 1/5 Anticipation right now and crit cap isnt an issue

Mainly asking because my defense right now is 498 which will drop to 475 if i remove my defense gems for hit.

@@Lone-Wanderer28 it'll still be 5.6% reduced crit to cap. So 490 defense will still make you crit immune if you're only getting crit reduction from def. You can supplement your def with resil to reach crit immunity too. The S4 weapon is a great option (will lose rating requirement and likely have reduced price in prepatch)

I dropped like 3.5k g on frost resistance, first time I got to kill Hydross in a guild. it's not hard at all, guides make it sound complicated it's not bad. lurker was simple, and we also got Leo also not bad. our guild kind of fucked up, we ran like 4 tanks? 3 prot paladins / 1 druid, honestly dude it seems like you only really need 2 tanks for SSC. how many tanks would you want in ssc?

Haha no worries, answering questions is what I do. 2 is all you need for ssc. Karathress is the only one you might be able to use a 3rd tank but you can have a fury war or other somewhat tanky offspec on Caribdis if you're doing the strat where you drag her away from everything else

From the EJ Wrath prot pally guide: "In addition to generating significant threat itself, HotR also counts as a weapon attack against each target for your currently active seal. This is most effective with Seal of Vengeance, since it allows you to build and maintain full 5-stacks against 3 or more mobs at once without switching your primary target"

Sabatons of the Righteous Defender sim quite a bit better for survivability on this fight than Blue's, so I'd definitely pick up the Sabatons

It performs similarly for survivability to the stam meta in its worst scenarios and much better than the stam meta in its best scenarios. You can sim it in Emrus' sheet to see how it will affect you personally for specific situations

Solo tanking you just tank dragon Kalecgos the whole time and human Kalecgos will take care of tanking Sathrovarr but he can't survive forever. For duo tanking, 1 tank starts on Kalecgos and the other goes into the portal to tank Sathrovarr, when the Sathrovarr tank gets kicked out of the shadow realm, they taunt Kalecgos and the tank who was tanking Kalecgos then goes into a portal to tank Sathrovarr. You repeat this tank swapping until the fight is over

It's still very worth it, but we get 3 new pieces of the set (bracers, belt, and boots) so you'll generally use those 3 + T6 gloves to maintain your 4 piece bonus

There are a lot of prot pallies out there so it's tough to compete for spots against more geared prots. Try to get into a guild if you can, that's gonna be the easiest way to get groups

I’ve got 2000 arena points, what would be the most valuable PvP piece I could buy (longevity wise) I know weapon is super strong but I’d hate to buy the sp if prepatch is in a month or two

It depends what gear you have but brutal gladiator's barrier (could do brutal glad shield wall too since that's the better pre-patch option) and vengeful gavel would be my top 2. I'd just keep doing minimal arena to keep picking up easy arena points now that they buffed it. During the post season 4 window before your arena points convert to honor and you can buy s4 weps without rating requirement, I'd pick up a 2.6 speed 108 dps s4 wep for pre-patch/wrath leveling

Haven't been able to figure out a macro that will cycle through multiple targets if the first choice is dead/out of range. There is a macro you can use with pally power to buff a class, but there's a ton of delay between casts, so it ends up not being worth it

Bosses have 6.5% dodge and 14% parry, so expertise soft cap refers to the point where you can no longer be dodged (6.5% expertise for bosses) but can still reduce parry chance with more expertise. Expertise hard cap is the point at which you've also pushed parries off the attack table (14% expertise for bosses). Expertise is much more valuable before soft cap since each 1% expertise is reducing both dodge and parry for 2% total chance to land an attack. After soft cap, you're only getting 1% chance to hit for each 1% expertise, though it is reducing parry, which reduces parry haste and there's some additional value in that

Weapon DPS is the most important thing, but slower weapons are better as long as dps is the same. This is due to Seal of Command and Seal of Vengeance instant damage being based on weapon damage and Hammer of the Righteous (an instant attack) procing them
