I have the PL-L1000. Tonearm lift was intermittent. Stopped working altogether. After taking it apart a few times to try various "fixes" from the internet, my solution was to very carefully take the lift motor apart, clean it up and lube it prior to reassembly. Once I did this, it has worked flawlessly ever since. Oh by the way, I ALWAYS take the headshell/cartridge off and move it out of harms way for any of the turntables I work on before I start. And that tonearm assembly is moved by a linear magnet and can be damaged by letting it slide back and forth. Once I understood how the thing works (yes, I agree the manual is lacking) I have come to appreciate the engineering brilliance of it's design.

Thanks for the video - I've just picked up the Phase Linear 8000 Series II version of the turntable. I bought it as non-function from our local auction site here in NZ - paid 50 NZD for it. Hopefully I can get it going - my first challenge is, it's a 117v model and we're 230v here!!

You're a brave man tackling this one, but very interesting.

Memories of working with Honeywell Microswitch Division in 70's and 80's had every variant of these size switches. Sadly I was made redundant in early 90's and should have kept a few (boxes) when ushered out. Of course the site security guys were quite happy to let me back in unknown to Honeywell management bean counters and my tools I'd accrued over the years were collected but no electronic odds and ends. EDIT: Forgot I also grabbed a couple of burnishing tools for just these occasions. 😆

I have a Mitsubishi lt22 from 83. I payed 350.00 in 83 with no cart which was 100.00 a Audio Technica nude elliptical cart can't remember the model. Turntable still runs perfectly I've only had to grease the rails so far.

I heard those turntables sound really really nice but regarding those three screws I wonder if they're packing screws in and maybe they weren't supposed to be there to start with

They were. Never removed in 40 years according to the owner.

Does this have a dust cover? Also wonder how much they go for on eBay if they are even selling any!
