Tip for onryo. The candle test isn't super effective. The best way to have the ghost blow out 3 candles in a row and burn the crucifix is when you're at high sanity, because the onryo ability works at any sanity, which confirms it's an onryo. Otherwise, it takes a few seconds after all three candles have been blown out before the crucifix actually burns. If you want a more effective method, grab all of the candles and spread them around the ghost room. Stay in the room and keep them all lit, and if the ghost hunts in range of any of the candles at all, it's not an onryo. You can also just set up 3 candles spread around the range of the tier 3 crucifix, but I prefer spreading them around the room because it's the most definitive way of disproving onryo.

Another thing is when you are in hunting range of an Onryo (60% sanity) or lower you can still test for Onryo with firelights. They don't have to blow out 3 firelights but if they are trying to hunt within range of a firelight they must blow it out first and then hunt. However, there can be coincidences which have happened to me many times. But, no other ghost will do this: an Onryo, when it's trying to hunt and you're 60% or below, will rapidly blow out firelights every time you relight it. You have to quickly relight it after it first blows out and the Onryo will immediately blow it out again if it is trying to hunt. This can actually prevent a hunt entirely and I've had an Onryo stop it's attempts at hunting after 2 quick blow-outs of a firelight but other times up to 4 blow-outs. Keep in mind that this only works when it is actually trying to hunt and it is within range of a firelight. Onryo's can blow out candles and not hunt just like any other ghost doing normal interactions.

On the whole "You can have a shy demon", reminds me of a no evidences run where we waited 10 minutes for a hunt while in the ghost room with no activity whatsoever, called a shade, it was a demon. Ghosts can sometimes be unpredictable

Been playing phasmo for the first time on console and got a perfect game on my first nightmare run. This is the first game I’ve learned purely by watching other people and it’s all thanks you playing with the JITS and then the GIGS crew. No effect is applied when drawing this card. (100% draw chance during hunts) **The Devil:** Triggers a Ghost Event towards the nearest player to the ghost. **Death:** Triggers a cursed hunt. **The Hermit:** Teleports the ghost back to its ghost room and traps it there for 1 minute. This does not affect hunts and ghost events. **The Sun:** Fully restores the individual player's sanity to 100%. **The Moon:** Instantly drops the individual player's sanity to 0%. **The High Priestess:** Revives a randomly chosen dead player at their corpse. On the note of Phasmo being a puzzle game vs. a horror game, I think it's a bit of both, which makes it really good. Many horror games lean toward heavy use of jumpscares (I'm looking at you, Five Nights at Freddy's) that you become numb to after a while, and thus the game can become boring. I do think that Phasmophobia falls into that a bit too, but that's why it IS a horror game - especially for new players. However, where this game shines above the rest is that it's not just jumpscares and unease, but, for people who stick with it long enough and are patient enough to wait for the ghost to do things, it's a darn good puzzle game. And, because at that point it becomes more about deduction and figuring out the ghost, it can still catch you off guard because you're not anticipating an event or hunt. There's also a lot of down time to goof around as well, which can make it more accessible for players who aren't so into horror, like Scar. Finally, on the note of names, I was thinking of this group as "SSIZ" - Skizzleman, Sneeg, Impulse, Ze. Pronounced "sizz", but you load both S's at the front.

I don't feel like they're appropriately showing the newer players how to play the game with a complete tier three equipment loadout. It's more like, "This is how the game will play after many, many hours." I played the game with some friends the other day using mostly tier one and a couple tier two objects because I was on someone else's account and our highest player level was 32 and I played the game very different than when I just use all tier 3 equipment.

I get that gamers get bored with collecting evidence, but thats the part I love the most about this game. Going through each tool and eliminating one ghost after another based on if you get uv, dots, orbs, ghost writing etc. When its a no (or few) evidence and low or no sanity run, I feel I am left watching streamers hang out in the dark, listening for footsteps. And the log cabin sucks when you watch on youtube. Its pretty much just a black screen most of the time. 😅
