I came out to San Diego 25 years ago and at night you couldn't find a door stoop in downtown at night without a homeless person sleeping there. My wife and I honeymooned in SD in 2014 and homeless were allowed to dwell in businesses preventing patrons from using customer seating areas. Now this. #1) Pepper spray-this is always the best line of self defense for about anybody because it's non lethal and you can effectively hit somebody in the face and eyes accurately from 3-4 yards so you don't even need to be near them to use it. #2) Gun-it goes without saying if somebody is threatening you with a crowbar that's a threat to your life and you have every right to defend yourself. I carry both everywhere I go. Fuck whatever gun laws that exist where you live just carry anyway. The criminals damn sure will ignore them so should you.

Remember when the homeless were harmless? You'd have a few drunks here and there, but for the most part, they left you alone to live their own lives. I used to volunteer to work with the homeless weekely at shelters. I would canvas the neighborhoods passing out food, blankets, toiletries, etc. Now it's too dangerous to do even that. They have become criminals. And because of this, I no longer have have much compassion as I used to. I now see them as a nuisance and a safety concern.
