Hey Durdam I am a final year Btech Bioengineering student and I want to pursue Bioinformatics MS in Germany. But apart from Saarland University i Couldn't find any program for Ms in bioinformatics which doesn't require german proficiency proof. Do you know any?

I will try to cover this topic. To answer your question, you should start looking atleast 3-5 months before your contract is finishing. In Germany, you have to inform the employment office 3 months before your contract finishes to get unemployment benefits. This office then also helps to find you a new job according to your skill set.

Hi, As an individual with a BSc in biotechnology and an MSc in environmental science, I have worked as an environmental consultant for two years. However, I am now considering a career change and would like to work in biotechnology. If I pursue a second master's degree and Ph.D. in biotechnology, how would the timeline work if I aim to join the industry afterward? Additionally, given the competition from younger professionals, will I still be eligible to work in the industry? I'm now 26. Is my age a potential obstacle to securing a job in the industry after completing my PhD, given that I will be between 33 and 35 years old upon completion?

You can think of getting a master's, but a PhD. would be difficult. Although you will have a degree but spending that time in the industry would benefit you more. Since you plan to stay in the industry and not in academia. Master's degree would work. However, with a Phd. degree, you have better chances to move to a management level position quickly. If you do Masters from your home country it will take 2 years and if you do Phd from Europe it will take 3-4 years. So you will be about 31-32 when you get PhD. That would still be fine. However, 35-36 is risky if then you want to move into the industry.

Quick question. Does the time you spent doing your phd count towards permanent residency? That is to say, since you were employed by a research institute, were you you on a work visa or a student visa?

Yes. It counts. Since I am getting a degree from a german university, it plays a crucial role in getting a PR or citizenship. I came here on a student visa, but later, I got the residence permit based on my employment.

The chances of getting a PhD position depends weather or not you have relevant research experience in the field. Since you are still working in the academia, you should be updated with the recent trends and latest research in your field of interest. So you have decent chances of getting a position. Start your applications and see what they are asking for, and then evaluate if you have the relevant skills or not.

Yes, of course you can apply, and since you have good sgpa from your masters that's a plus point. But you need research experience
