Love this video, My wife and I just visited you guys this weekend and brought back a few trees, plants, We spoke with Al ,he is just a fantastic guy and we had such a fantastic time, We live about 2 hours away, It was so worth every mile. My sister in law lives in Gastonia, NC however, the real reason we came is to come to the greenhouse, shhhhhh. Don”t tell my wife. Lol. I so look forward to getting back to your Greenhouse in the fall. I love conifers and all the offer, Vin and Val

Dustin your videos make me crave more evergreens! I have treated my not-so-great clay soil with soil amendment & pine mulch for years so the top 8 inches drain pretty well but below that when you hit clay, drainage slows down. 2 years ago, I tried my first evergreens-- a cryptomeria & sweet bay magnolia, which seem to be doing ok. Does this mean I might now risk a cedar, pine, or even spruce? I guess I am asking, how deep does the "well-draining soil" need to be for these evergreens? I desperately want some weepers for my zone 7 yard.

Can you make a video about how to obtain well draining soil in the south specifically those of us who have a yard full of nothing but red clay. How do you plant conifers properly in red clay. What soil amendments do you add? How do you avoid "bath tubbing" in red clay? Do you plant them above ground only and then build up a dirt mound around the root ball, Etc. If you have already made a video that explains this and answers these questions, I apologize for the unnecessary post here and I would love it if you could direct me to that video or info please. Those are some gorgeous and very expensive looking conifers you have there. Very Nice!

I am trying to fill in/replace a wooded area behind my home that have tall, old trees that are beginning to fall each hurricane season (zone 7b NC). Great video, very informative.

We started with the Kaliedescope abelia, the Gulf stream Nandina, the Limon lime Ligustrum, and the Jazz hands Loropetalum . So wished my home had well drained soil. So limited with slow drainage. Few days to drain. Like not so happy with yard. 6 years still trying to fix it. Higg water table problems. How this serious limits landscaping. As my area normally gets like 8 inches of rain in like 2 days monthly for like 5 months. Tropical storms drill my area each year. But few found at nurseries here in puetro rico. Hollies aleazeas hydrangeas arboritivae layland cypress juniper. In like zone 13

I had a wonderful blue spruce that I grew from about 2ft tall. After about 20yrs, it was about 12/15 ft tall but after a tornado knocked down two huge shade trees in a couple neighbors' yards, it burned to a crisp without that late afternoon shade.
