They have people which go out and scout different people who know have talent. When you first get to the auditions, you are seen by a low level employee. They decide if you are good (or bad) enough to go on. Then you are seen by a producer, who decides if you advance. It’s those contestants that go on the auditions in front of the judges. Some of the contestants do a first audition in front of the judges and skip the preliminary ones. They are the ones that are headhunted by the producers to appear on AGT. AGT sends out talent scouts to find people to audition and then asks them to audition in front of the judges. This is how a lot of the really great acts are on AGT. 24.1K views View 23 upvotes w follow a script and make it look like they are surprised when see them or hear them perform.

I’ve been singing for 9 years and people always praise my voice for being so good and I very rarely get impressed by singers nowadays….. this guy is literally incredible….. the ‘Sound of Silence’ audition he did at All Stars was the best thing I’ve ever heard in my life! Genuinely he’s THAT good

Usually, good singers or musicians have a better « note hearing ». You could put a very basic singer next to an incredible one, people that don’t have the music ear would be just as impressed for both. Many singers nowadays have very basic good voices. Nothing that’s gonna make history. And honestly, this is probably his worst performance i’ve seen and it’s still incredible. He’s a legend in more recent ones
