@TheGooners11 unfortunately the writers and many of the main cast fell out with Peter Kay
@dannyvine36054 жыл бұрын
@TheGooners11 From what I understand and have read; Daniel Kitson felt the scripts were lazy and racist at times; Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice felt that Peter Kay took all the credit for their ideas and used that to further his career to the detriment of theirs. A third series of Phonex nights was mentioned but both Dave and Neil said they knew nothing about it. Paddy to the best of my knowledge is still friends with Peter.

Watch the dvd with commentary on, cant remember what part it is but Spencer did something that upset peter kay and paddy mentions it. Found it In a newspaper interview (or it could have been radio), Daniel Kitson (Spencer) said that he hated doing Phoenix Nights, and he rates it as the worst thing he has ever done. In the commentary, every time he appears, they all shout "Bastard !" at the screen !
@boychildnew14 жыл бұрын
i heard that one the radio too. because he did not have control over his own character, which is a fair enough point and a key problem about such success in media (ive experienced it myself). ...who is 'they' on the commentary? peter kay and paddy?
@Onmysheet3 жыл бұрын
He's probably like that in real life. It's not an act.
@numsig3 жыл бұрын
He also said he tried to point out to Kay that the scenes with the Chinese fellas who fried everything in the kitchen might be considered racist and was roundly ignored... Seeing him as a stand up you can see that he might not particularly "compatible" with Kay's type of humour at all.

@thrashpilot7 жыл бұрын
Ha. Kitson wasn't in the wrong. The Chinese gags were ill conceived. Kitson is regarded as a much better stand up. Peter Kay is not respected with the comedy scene. He also doesn't care. Which is fair enough I suppose.

I'd love to enter into a pub quiz, but instead of taking it seriously, answer with the most ridiculously wrong answers. On a separate note, years back I'd just moved into a new area and went to the local pub and it was quiz night. Music being my strong point ( ex DJ ) and generally all around strong general knowledge ( I read a lot ), I asked the locals if they had a slot in a team I could join in. Everybody looked at me like I'd just snorted a line of washing up powder off the bar. I thought. Ok. Flying solo it is then. I stood at the bar, paid my £1, grabbed a pint and cracked on with the quiz........ I won it !! Suddenly everybody in the bar wanted me on their team. I declined them all with the words " If I can walk off the street and win on my own, why do I need a team that never wanted me when I first walked in ". Fast forward to the following week and I won it again. The landlord asked me if I would sit out the quiz's in future to give the regulars a chance. He gave me my first pint on the house every Wednesday night onwards.
