As far as the game goes, I really enjoy it. I think the worst publicity for the game is, perhaps more than the micro transaction garbage, is community negativity. Nothing is worse than trying to get into a game and everything you hear about it is bad balance, name calling, and the people grinding talking about how much they simply don't enjoy the game. I hope easy bake 50/50s get toned down, some tracking shenanigans are toned down, and we have one of the most interactive Tekken games of all time.

Phi seems like one of those people that’s a blast to be around. All his content shows him to be super conscientious and authentic. Halfway in, and I've got to say. It's because of these two that I'm having the most fun and success I've ever had with Tekken since I started playing all the way back in T1. Between Speeds coaching, pretty zen approach to it all, and Phi's content, analysis, desire to help and especially his community. I know morons saying dumb shit is easy to remember, but don't let it distract from the good you guys are doing for a game that needs it. This joint would be a lot shittier without you. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I just want to say thanks for this guys. I'm a nerd about fighting games too, and I appreciate Phi's approach especially because I like to (over)intellectualize them. It's refeshing to hear high-level players speak well of the game. I'm new to Tekken with 8, and while I'm secure enough in my own opinions to not let the howling mob turn me away from a thing I really enjoy, the constant whinging does nag at me. I sometimes wonder if I don't know enough about the game to know how bad it is. Upbeat realism is best. Great video.

This vid was therapeutic af man like OG therapy.. im one of those old players.That tbh. have very little issue with tekken 8 "not saying there isn't" And its so damn draining. At every turn all you see is hate. And here i am just wanting to play the damn game. Learn and get better.. "proceeds to get 1 and done like 20 times in a row"😂 Honestly, i am looking forward to the day all the babys trickle down and whats there are just players that love tekken. And real discussion can be had. I hate that i had to just start passing on people that, at one time were good sources of information and good play. Now alot of them are reduced to just complaining. like there only tekken game was the last 8 months of T7 lol. Seriously thanks. To both of you.

Great fun high energy podcast guys. Appreciate the nuance positive opinion. @PhiDX As someone outside of the Tekken community I only noticed hate towards you after you made a claim about only top tiers having forced 50/50s, a take that a lot of players felt was objectively false. Otherwise seems like most of the community likes you man! As a legacy FGC player I find the direction of modern fighting games very interesting ( and frustrating lol at times) which is why I tuned into this. Later guys

of course this take is false when everyone has access to heat and every char gets at least 2 additional mixups per round by heat engager and heat dash/smash.

i'm in my 30s, picked up t7 after watching the netflix show because it made me feel nostalgic about playing t3 when i was 10 and found out another friend played it too… didn't really like the game much but enjoyed the learning process too much to care and also 8 was already announced by then and it looked cool enough that I figured I may as well get the practice in while I wait for the new game. Now I'm here and while there are definitely things I dislike about 8 (it feels like phantom range has gotten much worse and it's much harder to tell when things are high, low, or mid without labbing… not a fan of mtx but at least it can be largely ignored) I'm otherwise having the time of my life. T8 is fun! Dunno if I'll ever be part of the community in the old school sense--i'm a bit of a curmudgeon and hate everyone by default until proven otherwise LOL--but I'm sure there's lots of others like me out there who are just having a good time and being nerds about tekken, just quietly.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I think it’s only OG tekken people that are super mad about some of the paywall stuff. I don’t think it even matters. I’m new to this, and this is my first of all of the tekken games ive played. I think people need to step out of their wall system and see it for what it is. They literally give the largest day 1 roster of all of the games out there. You can make your character look like anything you want without paying a penny. Even with the stage not being free, you don’t even need to buy it because you can still play it against people online. I completely understand why they are trying to make a little extra money like the other games do. Remember in games like streetfighter you barely even get a custom or alt costume. My answer is just don’t buy it, and they will understand that people are not buying it and won’t do it in the future. The negativity really makes things suck in the community.

"Worse players can now beat better players in tekken 8 because the game is dumbed down" - Speed proceeds to constantly beat the shit out of this good Law player for 51 minutes. How is this possible if tekken 8 doesn't reward skill? Did Speed get very lucky like 51 minutes straight? This game gets so much unnecessary negativity off of people who are mad that they are losing and then proceeds to quote the pro players criticism of the game to justify their loss even though it doesn't even apply to them. I really love this game. I really like my local community. I hate this game's online community.

Speedkicks' point about negativity in this new social media era doesn't make sense to me. From what I've seen as a basically brand new player who hasn't played since Tekken 5, 95% of the toxicity I see is from boomers who've been playing Tekken for 20 years and presumably would have been on those forums speedkicks was talking about. Like that guy Phi mentions who said he "hasn't bought the game and never will" is clearly a miserable 30+ year old, right? No "social media era" player would be that jaded. I think this behavior is universal in gaming culture now, I think it's just jaded old mfs who grew up playing games, who now have miserable shitty lives and jobs and responsibilities, and nothing is able to match up to the nostalgia they've conjured in their heads about how great games used to be. And because we're all on social media we all have to listen to these dumbasses whine, but I don't think it's an FGC or tekken exclusive thing related to a loss of arcades or a more centralized community, social media just gives these people an outlet.

community only negative because game is bad. People who spread negativity around the game are actually helping it since it makes it more likely devs make bigger changes for season 2. If big content creators invalidate legit criticism and be overly positive about the game while the game is objectively heavily flawed the further development of the game is hurt.
@Jamal.OАй бұрын
Yeah I agree, we need negativity to keep things in check. The problem is a part of the community is TOO negative to the point of hating the game and blaming people who enjoy playing or content creating with Tekken 8 for it's problems. Not everyone needs to see eye to eye or agree on everything.
