I feel like Phil’s relationship with his dad was so underrated on this show. They didn’t underplay it but I do wish we got to see more. Maybe because I don’t have a very good relationship with my dad and I was raised in an environment where dads weren’t supposed to be affectionate or silly, but their scenes together were the most heart warming for me. I will miss this father and son sorely.
@NS-ut6gy3 жыл бұрын
You couldn’t have said it better tbh. Phil breaks the stereotypical standards that the dad is the “man” in the relationship, the breadwinner, the least sensitive, almost like a rock. Also, coming from a family with an absentee and emotionally ab*sive father, their relationship really touched me in ways words cannot describe.

@@NS-ut6gy same. My dad is emotionally abusive as well and it's so draining. Idk why I find myself becoming like him when I'm angry. I don't want to do it but I can't help it. 2 years of covid and my grandmother's death has made it worse.

@@alishakhan8926 I'm sorry your dad was like that. I had a very angry and abusive mother, and I kind of went the opposite way. I'm too meek and let people walk all over me. I just start dealing with it with therapy. Maybe that would help you. I hope you find some way to heal.

I don't disagree with the death/writing off of Frank. I just feel like that it should've been so much more meaningful. Especially considering how strong Phil & Frank's bond was. This could've been a really powerful moment but it felt kind of empty & quick given how quick it was and again, given how much Phil loved his dad, I feel that Phil would've been far more emotional than he was in this scene. It is still a good scene, I just felt like it could've been better.

I dunno, Phil seems the type to compose himself for when he's on camera like that. I imagine when he actually got the news, which we never see, he was a wreck and Claire had to really help him through it

@@icemanlj2k7 Oh I'm sure he was a wreck. I think it would've packed a little more of a punch if Phil hadn't said that was one of his last days together with him and had gone straight to a funeral scene instead. But overall, still a good scene.
