At 8 years old, I couldn’t listen to this song when it came out. I realize now the emotion in the song and video overwhelmed me. This morning I woke up with it on my mind. My best friend of 20 years is flying across the country for an interview, and I know they are going to love her and hire her. We went on a weekend trip and were reminiscing about all the fun we have had (we actually saw Phil Collins together) and I can’t help but think this may be the start of a new season in her life. This song is very easy to be overlooked on the great “But Seriously” CD. The line “There was always something more important to do, more important to say”. “But I love you wasn’t one of those things, and now it’s too late”. Reminds me of my late Mom. We had a good relationship but I moved several hours away the last 20 years that she was alive. I tried to call and visit as much as I could, but now feel that I could have said I love you more. She passed away 5 years ago and hearing that line tore me apart. I love you Mom always and forever.
