This man SO SO great. With Genesis & Solo. You need to hear him play for Robert Plant Little by Little or In the Mood. Plant is the former Lead Singer of Led Zepplin. Remember Great Music Comes from Real Artist that use Real Instruments for Real Music. Notice no Dancers, No auto-tune. No off Mic. its all him. Now to this day His is being replaced by His Son... Note Phil is left handed. also note during that solo he is Chester the back bone his music and Genesis until his son started to take over. Long live Collins..This song is about him getting a Divorce. Lord Im so damn blessed to have grown up in the 70s & 80s When there was so much great ARTIST that Made OUT OF THIS WORLD MUSIC. Not like todays want a be crap of remakes. You need to hear him do the song called ABBA Cab Live by Genesis. Then you can truly understand just how great this man was.

Phil was coaxed into singing lead back when Peter Gabriel left Genesis, he led the band into a number of hits before striking out on a solo career. This song is one of his many solo hits and probably the most recognizable. Of itself it is a great song but when that drum fill comes in it takes off to another level.

@conan5885
@conan5885 2 жыл бұрын
Yep... The 1990 Serious Tour... The best PC tour ever. And But Seriously the best overall PC album ever. I love every songle song on that album. Colours from that album is still probably my most favorite song. Its as close to prog as he got on his solo stuff, and the lyrics is probably the most serious and powerfull yet, about the hunger and the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Followed closely by Another Day in Paradise and That's Just The Way it Is. The Serious Hits dvd (Berlin gig) is the best, as it has the complete show, with al the songs that didnt fit on the live CD. I have every possible copy of that, the vynil o bought when it came out, the CD and later the DVD. I remember the first time i saw it my jaw literally dropped seeing him play the drums on Hand In Hand and The West Side... The grace, elegance and fluidity in his playing was unbelievable. When i think that this man can no longer play the drums anymore makes want to cry.... 😢

I was lucky to go to see him in Paris on the Serious Hits tour. Travelled from the UK by coach/cross channel ferry and the concert was cancelled a few hours before it was due to start, due to him losing his voice, gutted was an understatement. Hey JAYY, We always enjoy your reactions... And, what's amazing is Phil Collins was 53 years old when he performed this concert in Paris, France 2004. He's a living legend!
@RadioReactiveOne

In the early '80s, at (I believe) the very first of those Live Aid shows, where there was a live outdoor concert arena in the UK, and when it ended, international TV switched to the one that was happening live in the US (Philadelphia, if memory serves), Phil Collins played the one in the UK, and then hopped on the Concorde jet and flew to America and performed at that one...all in the same day! When I saw him a couple of years later in Dallas, he was performing with Genesis at Reunion Arena (where the Dallas Mavericks used to play basketball), and he was a whirling dervish of energy, running all over the stage, playing drums, singing, and I believe at one time or another, he might have played several other instruments, too. He was just in perpetual motion for the duration of the concert. Just one of the most amazing performers I've ever seen in my life. Sadly, after battling alcohol for years (and finally beating it), in recent years, he has been plagued by an agonizing nerve disorder that has rendered him unable to hold drum sticks, let alone play the drums. He looks pretty frail these days, walks with a cane, and I'm sorry to report that his condition has deteriorated since 2009 when he injured a vertebrae in his upper neck while performing. But lord knows, he gave us a body of work, including this amazing song, that live on long after he's gone. Just an incredible talent.

What I love about this is that the crowd is in the moment fully. What is called mindfulness. The joy on their faces is beautiful. No glare of the guy/gal on both sides of them messing with their smart phones and disturbing the vibe with the glare of white light. I love, I hate all this tech. That bearded man is the professor who use to do acid with Timothy Leary at Harvard. They both were fired. This man went to the east and became Baba Ram Dass who wrote the famous book in the 71 , Be Here Now ,Now be Here. Did not know Phil was one of his students. Now the clothing Phil wears makes perect sense, Ram Dass dresses like that. Now I know why Phil can stil perforn under extreme pain.

They dont make artists like him any more... Total love, passion and commitment to music. During one of the shows from this tour he had a terrible flu and fever, he managed to preform the majority of the gig, and when he couldn't handle anymore he just said to the ausience with almost tears in his eyes and almost out of voice : "Ladies and gentlemen I'm so terribly sorry, bur i can't sing anymore..." and every single person in the room gave him a standing ovation.... 😢 Then you get the likes of Justin Bieber , and his contemporaries of today that cancel a whole leg of shows over a sniffle..... 😩

Phil Collins always had two drum kits. His music is percussion heavy. Chester Thompson was his drummer until he retired a few years ago. Luis Conte is also a regular percussionist for him as well as Phil Collins son Nic.

Phil is so good live. I see him as a performer 1st and a vocalist 2nd. He has had so many iconic live performances. I dont even think he tries to be iconic. He just is iconic. Lol
