He held the door for me in the 90s at the Ritz chicago I was Speechless. Total gentleman!

He gets a lot of unjustified grief. His modest and soft-spoken manner makes him an easy target. Plus, he is fearless in approaching both music and his life. No regrets. His book is great. Oh, and his 'acting ability' is vastly underrated by both critics and himself. He is a wonderful actor....and, from what you say, a wonderful gentleman.

To me the most amazing thing about this man is he made his biggest hits during an era when MTV dominated music...he didnt have the,looks as bands like Duran Duran etc and all the others....says something about his talent that he managed to dominate in the 80s...i will always respect him

I met him when he was around 38. As friendly as can be. I was extremely star struck at the time, but he was so down to earth and very accommodating on signing a program or something. So long ago I can't quite remember.

It makes me sad though, having grown up with Genesis and seen Phil live many times ( and met him once in a professional capacity, lovely guy) - the fun and banter and energy are not there any more and the body language is all off cue. I know he has had health problems and he is not getting any younger but really these recent TV interviews - its like he really does not want to be there. Retire and concentrate on the writing and your family. You really don't need this anymore and we fans still have the music and the memories.

I thought he had been making progress on his health, but the weight gain and the mobility issues are really sad for someone who really took care of himself. I agree his family and health should be #1.

Spartanm333 he craves attention and he's only doing this to make money, it's an addiction
@Spartanm3337 жыл бұрын
Well, I think the first part may be right - he misses the fame and fandom that he enjoyed both in Genesis and as a solo artiste but he certainly doesn't need the money. He is a multi-millionaire several times over with a home base in the tax haven of Switzerland and still has a daily income from publishing and record sales if he doesn't get out of bed. So its not money. He said it himself, you can only have so many houses, powerboats and fancy cars before it all blurs into repetition - it's not fulfilling on a personal level. I think he wants to feel that he still has some relevance in music so thats what this is really about.

Through my eyes? As a fellow musician - Seeing Phil from Backstage right behind his kit rockin' In The Air Tonight on the But Seriously Tour LIVE In Cleveland at the old Richfield Coliseum was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had.

It breaks my heart to see gorgeous Phil Collins looking so frail. I don't give a shit about his rubbish taste in women. Phil Collins kept Genesis alive for over 30 years after Peter Gabriel walked away. Love you Phil. Genesis survived thanks to Phil Collins. With all "due respect" to Tony and Mike ... how the fuck do you two sleep at night? You are so smug and yet so safe. Your band stayed alive without any input from either of you.

Yes, it's called "promotion". He's an incredibly successful musician who continues to work long after he could have retired extremely comfortably. Do you think he should do talk shows just because he likes to sit and chat with professional interviewers? What planet do you live on? 😂

Not fan huh? I don't care about him being parent and why do you care? You don't have to buy his book or read it but to put someone down you don't know and you haven't ever been a world famous musician is just unnecessary unless you walk a mile in his shoes. So don't judge unless you know. Also I have a question about why you and all of others that make snide remarks are here if you all hate him so much. Why don't you all that don't have something nice to say to take a flying leap and please quit your bitching for once in your life.
