There is no need for comparison I think as the band reached immense fame with Phil, and Phil has been hugely successful in his solo career..I like both eras, though

I remember watching these concerts every year on HBO in the 80's...and the camera would show Princess Diana clapping and dancing to the beat of the music, it was so great, they should continue doing these benefits live again. God save the King & Queen.

Yup. Although during the verses I like Jamerson's line better than this one, which I think Leland Sklar may have developed. It's only a couple of notes different and probably nobody but a bass player would even notice. But sometimes subtle changes have a sizeable impact.
