Jase turns another year older, but his heart is heavy after someone he knows suffers an extreme hardship. Phil, Al, and Kyle Thompson of the "Undaunted.Life" podcast offer encouragement to Jase in this tough situation and explore the ways that Christians grieve differently from non-believers. Al points out other interesting events that share Jase’s birthday, and Kyle assures us that the Gospel is powerful enough by itself without any modern adornment.

I can relate to Phil’s childhood, we actually lived in a shack, which had no inside walls, only outside walls, which you could literally see daylight through, very cold in the winter. We had no furniture, slept on the floor with quilts my grandmother made. No running water, no inside plumbing, no heat in winter, no fans in the summer, it was in a pasture. We had no refrigerator, no table and chairs, just a table. We did have electricity, used an electric hot plate to cook on, times were hard, but we seem to enjoy life in spite of all that. You could sleep with doors unlocked, go off during the day and the door was open, just screen door was closed. You could leave your cars unlocked, or horse and buggy unattended. This country has truly changed, but not for the better.

Earlier during the month of August, my sister, brother-in-law and niece sustained a devastating loss of their 38 year old son/brother. No drugs or anything like that, he just sustained a massive heart attack while driving and by the time he was transported to the hospital he had passed from this earth. As his aunt and cousin, my son and I have grieved his loss, but we know we will see him again. Of course, it's harder on the parents and sister, I know that all I can really do for them is pray and support them emotionally as much as possible. In that we live more than a thousand miles from them, we are in constant telephone contact. Please include these folks in your prayers and us as well. We loved him a lot. He was a Child of God and a really good guy!

We must not understate that those who endure great loss usually have seasons of wrestling with deep grief and perhaps "if only's." The thing about grief and loss is that we can't go under it, we can't go over it, we can't go around it, we have to go through it. "Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning." The beauty of our God is that we have a "Suffering Savior" who knows what it is to suffer, and suffers with us. We also have a "Resurrected Lord," who has & will overcome all suffering. He will wipe away every tear from our eyes.

I am so sorry to hear about this tragedy. My husband and 13 year old daughter were killed by a drunk driver. Not only was I numb and deeply grieving but I was laid further flat when an emotion/spirit of Survivor Guilt hit me as hard as their 2 deaths. Maybe perhaps mention to your friend she may feel Survivor guilt at some point. Mine didn't kick in until about 18 months after. Peace and love coming your way.

Yes bad things do happen or should I say sad things. I watched my husband die right before my eyes . and I tried to bargain with God. “ I said don’t take him because you don’t need him I do .” in the end God took him and right then I had to make a decision . so I went outside because he died at home. I looked to heaven and I said Lord, even though you slay me yet will I serve you and trust you. Life is full of decisions. Please try to always make the right one.

Loss happens in this sinful world. It's a time to draw nearer to God. I've had a few very sad losses. The first time I got angry and suffered even more. I've had 4 losses in the last 3 years. But, in those I've drawn closer to God. I have found peace and comfort in Christ. I've made it through, and God was glorified. Praise God!

Thank you for sharing. Our little girl and an evangelist from our church family died in a tragic accident we had on March 25,2007. The verses and sermon you spoke about were very comforting to me. To know that Jesus died for everyone yet not everyone knows this was a revelation I came to early on in my grief. God knows what it feels to loose many souls.

Happy Belated Birthday Jace! My Daddy, passed on August 17, 1975, I was 10 years and 19 days old. As a child I went to this dark place. I spent years in physical, mental, and emotional fights. I questioned, why? At 30 years old, I discovered that satan has a hand in some tragedies. I, also came to understand that God uses these things for his love for us. In Bible study I found 1 Corinthians 5. And without writing a book on my story, I finally found true Peace. I love you fellows, and what a blessing it is watching. Much Peace and Love! you

My daughter , i know is with God in the arms of Jesus . She touched so many lives through her faith in Jesus and she was only 14 . In 2008 my oldest son was killed in a car accident. He was 18 yrs old. His death changed the dynamic of our family thrusting my second oldest 16'yr old son into the role of oldest brother. Ten yrs later he was a pedestrian killed by a driver high on fentanyl and a cocktail of other drugs. my heart was ripped from my soul again. I needed to find a strength to replay that same grief i barely got through the first time all over again. I wasn't a practicing religious person. I wasnt raised with those purposeful tools but i fe!t in my soul i needed to find Jesus Christ for that strength. The ideology wasnt foreign to my belief system. I accepted and believe Jesus will lead me to my sons in my eternal life.

Happy belated Birthday, Jase. 🎈 Please say hello to Uncle Si for me. I miss that man, he’s truly hilarious even when he’s not trying to be. I love the Robertson family. When I first saw your show, being a huge animal lover I really thought I’d dislike it. But it’s your family that made me fall in love with ya’ll. Family and faith in Jesus. I’m 47 years old and I’ve just now picked up the Bible and I’m reading it faithfully looking for guidance and comfort in this crazy world during these crazy times. I’m going to Him and accepting Him as my Lord and Saviour and handing my heart over to Jesus. One question: My mother is Catholic, my father was Protestant. I’m not really sure of the difference but my Aunt is a Baptist. She’s been a Sunday school teacher for as long as I can remember and now she’s teaching the gospel to prisoners. She explained the difference between Catholic and Baptist by saying Catholics put too much emphasis on Mary where Baptists put all emphasis on Jesus. I’m not baptized but I want to be. Is it too late for me at 47? I wish Duck Dynasty would come back, we need more prayer and believers more than ever today and now I’m finally willing and able to dive in and do my part for the spiritual world. I’m so embarrassed that it’s taking me so long.

It’s never ever to late to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior or getting baptized… angels are singing HOLY HOLY HOLY knowing you’ve given your life to Jesus. After accepting Jesus at 4 years old and being a Christian my whole life (I just turned 47 last week).. I finally got baptized at age 46.. I put it off my whole life bcuz I have an auto immune disease that causes me to have to wear a wig. So I was always to embarrassed to get dunked under the water not knowing if my hair would fall off..finally I decided the enemy wasn’t gonna win and keep me in fear from getting baptized..so I wore my wig and put it in a long braid crossed my arms and held the braid…when I came up out of the water I cannot explain the feeling.. I felt like a new person..I pray your able to have that experience of getting baptized. Welcome to the kingdom family!! I’m praying for you…🙏🙏🙏

The Bible is clear that the only way to heaven is through accepting and believing in Jesus Christ and having a personal relationship with Him. Catholics believe in praying through Mary..but Jesus wants us to pray directly to Him.. also, confessing your sins to a priest.. Jesus wants us to repent through Him and now a priest.

Thanks for sharing Psalm 88, and 39. Psalm 139, as well, describes how Jesus went to sheoul, but did not stay there. There is risk of the parent wanting to join the child(ren). The thought of living life after is impossible without the the support of family, friends and other grievers. It's been two and a half years since my son passed. Going through grief has been the worst. I clung to the idea that I will see him again, and the fact that God gave him to me in the first place. I've seen the reason for resurrection more now than ever before. May God be in our heart and mind daily.

God himself watched his only begotten son be murdered, they beat him, spit on him laughed at him while they tortured him, and God could've stop it at any second. He did not, why? God knew those men could not kill his son. They could kill his earthly body that's it, He knew his son was coming home and this would stand to let us know God does love us and this is not a real death here on this earth. If we have faith in this then we can understand this life on this earth is temporary for us all, we are not all supposed to get the same number of days here, some he needs to come home sooner than others.

I lost one of my 21 year old twin sons in a head-on collision by a careless driver a day and a half before 9/11. The Lord is with you, so close in your grieving journey. Tragedy comes to the just and unjust alike in this fallen world. Many questions are left unanswered this side of heaven. We can still choose to trust Him regardless. Trust is rewarded with peace. I truly believe that our Father in Heaven understands the depth of our loss, but the end result He is working toward is that you and I who are left to still live out each day will come to a place of greater strength of faith, hope and love and to bear more fruit for His honor. You can discover more of our Lords heart for you and facets of His character you never even knew existed. This has been part of the beauty for the ashes in my journey. Bless you dear one.❤️‍🔥

Pains, tragedy, death, happens to both the lost and saved. The difference is the hope that sees you through that there is more on the other side of whatever that is. The death train will come for us all the only difference for each is the destination Trials and pain in humanity make me think of what we see in life around us: Pearls Diamonds Pottery Butterflies Steel objects All are forged, formed under intense heat, pressure, difficulties, etc. Without rain there would be no flowers, no food to eat, no puddles to dance in. With age we learn to appreciate the clouds that bring the rain. Sometimes the rain soothes, sometimes the rain washes away.

From what I hear, not many people really remember Woodstock...if they were there. ;) I'm younger than Phil, Al, & Jase, but I know the song by Canned Heat. 'Happy' is a fun song, and Happy belated Birthday, Jase!

Thank you Jase for your pure view and teaching of the Holy Scriptures. Warning to any that don’t know, Kyle mentioned Voddie. He is a leader of false teachings. He teaches that some of you are not chosen to live in Heaven with your Creator. Do the research. It’s FALSE. Heaven is available, GOD’s LOVE and FORGIVENESS is available to ALL. We just need to use the free will, given to us by our Creator, to Believe in Jesus. Find the scriptures that defend this. Strengthen your belief and understanding. Like Phil said, read the last 2 chapters of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. Read Acts and read Romans. In Jesus’ name!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊

Oh dear. Was Tim Keller a Calvinist? Dear Jase and Phil, do you buy into the lies and teach of Lutherinsm, Arminianism and Calvanism, the acronym T U L I P?

God is sovereign in all things including salvation. Man’s free will does not exceed God’s. All in the fall have a sin nature and are dead in sin and trespass. God awakens a sinner then we choose God . Salvation belongs to the Lord. Please be careful in what you call heretical. You mention find the scriptures that defend free will? They never defend autonomous free will. From Genesis to revelation God is sovereign in all things.
