So the “pickle” is actually an ornament for a Japanese holiday called Obon. During this time, it is said that our ancestors return to our homes for a visit. The cucumber represents a horse to mean “please arrive quickly on a horse” and there’s an eggplant with the sticks like the cucumber which represents a cow to say “please leave slowly, we don’t want to see you leave as quickly as you came”. Typically Obon is the time of the year where adults get their little summer breaks (typically get days off because it’s a holiday) to return to their childhood homes and gather as family.

I got some tips! First, make Fish Bait and sprinkle it into the river, it’ll attract more fish, and hopefully one of those fish will be a betta. Second, you can only catch them from 9am to 4pm, so make sure to start fishing in that time frame. Also, they are available from May to October, so they’re not just available during summer, woohoo! Good luck out there!

Thanks for reminding me I abandoned my island 😂 BUT you need to step on all the cockroaches in your house! Also, donate your items you catch to the museum so you can get the coffee shop (worth it!). You should also try to play on a Sunday morning to get the turnips or wait until LaBelle stops by and has you model an outfit. I don’t know if this is just in the US but during the summer they gave us firework nights on the island and different things for that. Holidays are fun though, especially Halloween. Hope this helps!
