The only reason Phil Jones was joked upon was because he was clumsy at times and we had the likes of Rio, Vidic etc.. Other than that he is a very consistent defender and the main reason is that he gives it his all. You soon see the difference in a player when they really try their hardest, compared to not trying at all.. And unfortunately a lot of our players at the moment are doing exactly that. Glad he got a game and showed what it means to be a United player.

Because of that meme, many people think that Jones as comedic laughable players of United as well as many beautiful own goals. But, people forgot about how much his dedication to defense even letting himself use all of his own body without even regarding his image as important thing. Personally for me, I think its better for defenders to get own goals rather than letting people scoring a goals. At least Jones try hard to protect the goals by sacrificing himself although it may result at own goals rather than Maguire who just let many people breakthrough on him and scored many goals. The difference on braveness and tenacity reflected on how much their effort to keep the defense safe.

This is why I left this sport behind. Nowadays, it's all about the hype and the price tag, not about talent or hard work. I used to see legends play in the late 2000s (though I probably don't remember that well) and early 2010s. Now however, I see only idiots who run around the pitch with no sense of identity and no talent whatsoever, just a bunch of overhyped and spoiled celebs. Their are only a few truly magnificent players left in the sport. It is truly sad to see that we are coming to the end of real football.
