What an inspirational poet. He’s got the finesse to address the part of the audience that won’t stop talking & leaves them laughing. And the fluidity of the set is superb. Well done yet again, Phil. Much love.

It’s crazy! In a culture devoured my wanting to know as much about the lives of celebrities as possible, its so hard to see them exist only in the form of their art as Phil is for me. Talented, great-story teller, vulnerable, inspiring, human, beautiful! I will protect the image of poets like Phil and Sarah as long as I can; they will always inspire to appreciate the beauties of everyday life.

That third poem really took me by surprise. I've been thinking about my own experiences with being unable to speak my mother tongue and I'm a Venda girl in South Africa. I've loved your poems for years, but never expected you to be able to hold up a mirror to my life so beautifully

Wow, that change at 1:57 was surprising haha! In an earlier version (and in his book too) it went something like and my belt loops quietly think to themselves: you fundamentally misunderstand my ability but I guess the what the fuck delivers the meaning just as well :D
