Phil must be, one of the best, or rather, the best, organist, in this country, he can literally make the Whirlitzer talk, poetry in motion. ❤️

For a geriatric non dancer who has never ceased to regret not learning, I am deeply grateful to all the dancers and musicians who continue to keep this music alive ...it is quite simply of God and a gift to human beings

I saw Phil play in a concert in Consett, County Durham about 40 years ago and as a budding organist I tried to emulate his style of playing, but failed miserably. I didn't play afterwards for about 2 months. 40 years on, I still haven't mastered it. This guy is a legend in the organ world.

Anybody and everyone have tried to be like Phil. Sadly a lot of people have become a poor clone of him, it’s Always best to play how you want to play a song/tune and not how someone else would/does! You don’t get the same joy and satisfaction from it otherwise. If people want to hear Phil they can go and listen to him. However there is only one of you!

@@kieraneastwood-mulvaney8736 They are not trying to emulate Phil Kelsall , they are trying to emulate the " Blackpool style " on the Wurlitzer If you listen to a lot of Reg Dixon recordings you'll find Phil gets a lot of his style of playing from the man who is the one and only "Mr Blackpool" and thats Reg Dixon 👍

Please could you tell me what year this was recorded? I can't remember the year Sheffield 510 or 513 tram from east anglia or crich tramway was on loan to Blackpool transport....
@jacobwoods8738 Жыл бұрын
@@adamsmartie987513 was present for around a decade I want to say offhand, but 619 did not operate between around 2004 and 2008, I figure this is probably around 2008, maybe as late as 2009. Wurlitzer remarked as being over 70 years old, but not yet 75, as well as other cosmetic hints.

@cyrysvonnachtseite4546: there are even some "bigger" theatre organs in the USA, for example, look for Fox Theatre Organ or Organ Stop Pizza, which is the world's largest Wurlitzer Organ located there now. But it is the man on the keyboards, who brings such an instrument to life - and Phil Kelsall is one of the bests

A Wurlitzer? There is one in Grand Rapids MI
@jacobwoods87389 ай бұрын
@@ashukusI assume the comment referenced a Wurlitzer in its original home, with close to original specification, in fine condition, being played for dancing. Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom has one, but rarely used, and in somewhat tired condition I gather. There are a fair number of surviving Wurlitzers in the USA, but not played like this unless a Blackpool organist happens to come; and many expanded, revoiced, and rebuilt. The Grand Rapids one came from a pizza parlour I believe (the king of expanding instruments).

This is beautiful! To see the Grace, Elegance and Discipline of the dancing couples - coupled with the sound of The Mighty Wurlitzer Organ (what a fabulous and unique noise) and the thing that brings all this together is the 'skill' of a very talented organist! Fabulous music Phil Kelsall! (applauds) I was taught to play the Wurlitzer and the Rutt at the St. Alban's Organ Museum many many moons ago by the late Len Rawle, but although I 'can' fly an aircraft with my eyes shut... Sorry I mean "Get a tune out of both organs which is recognisable", I am no where near your standard. I take my hat off to you Sir and totally enjoy the sound of you and this great instrument in harmony!

Is the song "I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside" a Blackpool theme or something? Reginald Dixon tribute?
@OrganMusicYT Жыл бұрын
It was used by Reg Dixon as his signature tune. Reg performed tens of thousands of times at the Tower Ballroom, and broadcast over 3000 times to places all around the world, it's easy to see why the tune has become so associated with Blackpool. The Wurlitzer has been the soundtrack of Blackpool for generations now.
