Phil Mauger on why he wants to continue being Christchurch's Mayor

Personally I’d prefer to hear ‘rates freeze’ and work within our means rather than ‘more affordable’ rates. I like Phil Mauger and believe you need to be in a position for more than one term to instigate, uphold and make betterment where changes apply, however, the woke on the Council need to go, there is no place for it in these challenging times, and if the people paying for Christchurch cannot be heard, then those who are not listening need to follow the wokies right out of that door.

Just one example of not affordable is we pay per cone per day for road cones placed less than 1 metre apart - the traffic control procedures are too costly and just plain stupid. Another stupid process is narrowing roads with planted areas and placing coble stones across the narrow space - this costs a bloody fortune to do and is totally not needed . Just 2 examples of wasted rate payer money - get your act together and go back to basics . Common sense needed
