Man, flip the script - imagine if Sexton or HRC offered another rider money on the line at Pala to take Tomac out because "it's a world final" or for the championship some bullshit. There would be fucking anarchy. On track takeouts are one thing, but pre-meditated attempts at what would be considered match fixing in other sports needs to be punished by the FIM.
@waynegarfield66072 жыл бұрын
They kinda do . ..maybe not pure intention on cleaning him out but putting team mates in between the riders is a long time normal strategy and slowing down, brake checks, running wide. Cross jumping, eyes behind blocking the lanes are potential crash inducing methods. What goes on in the team truck stays in the team truck..
@usualsuspectsfor1k2 жыл бұрын
Ultimately that $ move may be his downfall as it undermines the fundamentals of fair sport and sportsmanship. AMA and FIM have to maintain credibility for the sport to be attractive to sponsors, who ultimately make the wheels go round. And speaking of sponsors, who would want to be associated with someone who offers $ to take out other riders? That would be a marketing death sentence.

Jace, man, if you don't want to be the guy that jumps on the shit-talking bandwagon, then why are you doing it? When mob mentality sets in, don't fold to the pressure. Buck the crowd. Admit it, when aggressive riding becomes a crash, your knee jerk reaction is to side with the rider you like more. It has nothing to do with observing what actually happened from each rider's perspective.. nothing to do with calling it objectively. It's okay, I'm that way too.. we all are.. but you can't just go with that and start spreading hate and calling for extreme sanctions. You have to push back on yourself a little and ask what actually happened. Example 1: No way in hell Friese was serious about the bribe. From the coverage I've seen, witnesses say they were laughing about it. Claim: Vince tried to bribe someone to take out his friend! Reality check: It was a joke. Example 2: It's understandable that Brayton was hot under the collar, but it's also very plausible that Vince only wanted to push Roczen and Brayton wide, but he got excited and fucked it up. If you don't know what is like to get excited and and overcook a pass attempt, you've never raced. Of course, it would be better if he owned that, but trying to save himself the embarrassment is understandable too. Claim: It was incontrovertibly an intentional takeout move! Reality check: It's entirely possible that it was unintentional. If you want to be the level-headed one who sticks up for the guy who's misunderstood and abused, then be that guy, and stop being the one who just follows the crowd.

@@GYPSYTALES I hear you bro. It gets exhausting defending riders who end up in these situations a lot. My suspicion is that getting too excited when he thinks he has a shot and twisting the throttle a little too hard has become an engrained pathway in his brain and he doesn't know how to stop. It seems to explain all of these moments he has, and those moments seem to happen almost every time he's near the front of the pack. He could probably benefit from a sport psychologist.

Nobody is saying he's slow or that he's not improving. But it's miracle he hasn't ended anyone's career yet. To say nobody will remember the 250 titles is just irrelevant; people will remember a lot of riders and not remember who won those titles - so what? It's not a couple small incidents where he just went for it - it's more incidents than anyone else on the track has had and they're all major incidents. Then to add to it, he's offering other riders to clean out his own teammates for money. There isn't a rider out there that has anything good to say about him and there is even a whole Instagram profile dedicated to him being a huge problem. He's also not the only guy that beats factory riders, but you ever wonder why he doesn't have those factory rides??? Being the sport's most-hated rider isn't a good look for selling bikes...
