I’m Polish, and Mariusz is my idol. I remember watching this final when I was a kid. It gave me PTSD haha. However, looking back at it, I have a lot of respect for Pfister and I’m happy he won. I remember watching Phil win on ESP back in 06. Glad as I was to see it come back to the USA, the part I'll never forget was right after Phil placed that last stone and Mariusz had missed it and was obviously upset-and my dad paused the TiVo and said "Did he just say 'Oh fuck?'" He went back and sure enough, at 2:24 you can see Mariusz spout it out.

Coolest momemt in all of strongman.. Dude prophesied that he would eventually become the world strongest man just 5 years prior to this moment.. He was doing the Hercules hold In the year 2001 and near the end before he let go of the pillars he said "he would keep coming back no matter how many times it would take, and that he would he WSM one day, and that he would bring America a WSM title.." it's actually on youtube for those who have not seen it.
