I realize this entire documentary is broadcast from the right channel. This is how I personally received the DVD from someone else who was kind of enough to send it to me. I figured something was better than nothing. I do have two ears and a quite a few stereos, I'm not a complete yutz...contrary to what some people believe.

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys estimates that he’s heard “Be My Baby,” by the Ronettes, more than 1,000 times. The very first listen, 50 years ago this month, still haunts him. “I was driving and I had to pull over to the side of the road - it blew my mind,” Mr. Wilson said, repeating a story that has become something of a legend. “It was a shock.” Just 21 and already frustrated with his band’s basic surf music, he bought the single and set about deconstructing its arrangement and production. “I started analyzing all the guitars, pianos, bass, drums and percussion,” he said by telephone. “Once I got all those learned, I knew how to produce records.” Those records, many fans would contend, weren’t half bad, but if you ask Mr. Wilson, they still don’t stack up. “I felt like I wanted to try to do something as good as that song and I never did,” he said. “I’ve stopped trying.” Mr. Wilson added: “It’s the greatest record ever produced. No one will ever top that one.”

I believe you. It inspired him to do an "answer" song called "Don't Worry Baby" whose guitar riff was later used by Roger McGuinn for "Mr. Tamborine Man". He was the first acknowledged Record Producer in Rock Music before there was a David Foster, Timbaland, The Neptunes and even the UK Team Xenomania who said they were influenced by him as well as Motown. They worked with a Girl Group called Girls Aloud who are the most successful Group to come out of reality tv. They had 21 Top Ten Hits, Four Number Ones and Six Platinum Albums. Even The Record Producer who worked with Abba said that they like The Beach Boys were influenced by him. Tom Wolfe the Writer 1930-2018 once called him The Tycoon Of Teen.

Phil Spector also played guitar at a professional level and co-wrote several of the hit songs he produced. I may be a Phil Spector geek, but I'm kind of surprised that isn't more common knowledge. He was certainly a proficient musician.

Someone once told this man that Brian Wilson was a great fan of his. He said, "What does he matter? He's crazy." Which of the two are spending life in prison? He really had a place to talk. But I am very sorry for the actress who saw just how crazy he is and died for it. So senseless.

He was the First acknowledged Record Producer in Pop Music. Before Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Dallas Austin or even David Foster there was Phil Spector. The Writer/Satirist Tom Wolfe (RIP) once called him The Tycoon Of Teen. HIs legacy still continues in the sense that in The UK there's A Songwriting/Producing Team called Xenomania who were also heavily influenced by Motown. If you can listen to "Biology" by Girls Aloud, it sounds like Three Songs In One.

I read that she was guarding an area of the house of blues and when Spector turned up she initially thought he was a woman. The people working with her told her who he was and the treat him very highly, and that they also insisted/persuaded her to accompany him home.

he was a music arranger and producer . it wasn't his place in the scheme of things to be a musician. As far as the Wall of Sound -it is still regarded as one of the most innovative recording techniques ever devised. Listen to the Righteous Brothers-"You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin". Listen to the depth and power of the recording.
