Thanks so much both for this wonderful episode, took me back to the mid 1970/80's, caught some nice barbel and chub here and saw the biggest pike I've ever seen, estimated at over 35lbs and looked to be 4ft long!! an absolute monster!!. I always said the middle Severn is one of the most picturesque stretches of river in the UK with the wonderful sight and sounds of the steam trains as a backdrop-pure heaven, great to have the aerial views too, cheers Peter.

@@AnglingDirectTV morning Phil, used to fish the harbour inn side down to the lovely bridge, that pike was so big it was the only fish that actually gave me chills, I'm not sure I would have wanted it on the other end of my line-just glad not to be a roach or chub in its field of view!!.

Phil knows how to make a great fishing video! Could you explain when you choose either working with the backwind vs. using the brake on your reel?
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV Жыл бұрын
Hi Sixx, you must of noticed that I quite like to use both back wind and the drag on the reel. Using the back wind helps me play fish very smoothly, I feel very much in control. I prefer the drag when playing much harder fighting fish such as catfish, carp, big barbel, and pike. Sometimes a hard fighting fish can catch you off guard suddenly running off before you have to to react with back wind. Quite often I use a combination of both! Regards Phil,

Hi Jon, I didn’t feed any loose feed because quite simply I didn’t feel I needed to. Similar to using cheese paste for chub I sometimes like to keep on the move to find the fish.
