The sheer power of this loco is amazing and I’m so glad that she was painted in BR green for a few years .

Excellent filming - Spend many an hour on Crewe & Wigan stations in the mid 1950's drooling over this class. Lucky tram passengers that day @5.57 riding alongside a glorious coronation if only for 500 yards or so before diving below the network rail tracks at Collyhurst. - Happy days - Thankyou for posting

What a great video, absolutely fantastic, when I was trainspotting back in the 1950s, this would have definitely been a no no, you would never have seen a `semi` in Manchester Vic and to see one all these years later, what a nice surprise, the 1in 47 climb up miles platting bank would be no problem to these powerful engines, most of the long trains 10 and 11 coaches back then would have been double headed or had a banker, once again great video.

Thank you, I really would have loved to have experienced Man Vic back in the days of steam, I was at least able to get the last few years of diesels at least :/

A once beautiful station that now more resembles a gloomy multi story carpark. I have not been back there in 30 years. The outlook (westwards?) as the engine leaves now looks so barren it made me shudder. It reminds me of how they have recently revamped London Bridge Station. They ripped out all the warmth, wood, prettiness, little waiting areas and cafés - and replaced it all with a grey wilderness of concrete and steel. The irony is that in the 1960s and 70s everyone assumed that with progress we'd be living in a modern utopia by now. Instead we destroyed paradise. Rant over.

Indeed, I had many happy memories of the old Victoria which just needed a bit of TLC but was a very good station with a great flexible layout unlike today where with only 4 through roads causes no end of problems... Sticking that arena on the roof to make it extra gloomy didn't help either.

They have done major Renavation since, this work included restoration of the grade 2 listed buildings and a new roof. I do agree the station has lost character, but at least it didn't happen in the 60s / 70s

Yeh good one and if I remember rightly Manchester Victoria back in the 1950s had around 16/17 through tracks and travelling east out of the station many trains went via Hunts bank and rejoining the main line near Newton Heath sheds, yeh good memories.
