Today was a very traction packed day across Greater Manchester with 5 seperate railtours booked to run. This video was shot at several locations across Greater Manchester and includes 4 tours and as a bonus footage of the Duchess of Sutherland positioning Light Engine earlier in the day. Due to a few unfortunate circumstances I was unable to capture the fifth railtour though since the Duchess was to work it I guess that counts :D
We start off at Wigan North Western where we see 46233 "Duchess of Sutherland" running light engine from Crewe to Hellifield to form part of "The Hadrian" railtour. Next up 47790 "Galloway Princess" and 47832 "Solway Princess" race through Wigan NW with "The Northern Belle" heading south to Llandudno. It's off to Eccles for the next clip where Deltic 55022 "Royal Scots Grey" heads Eastwards towards York & following a late running pacer hence why it's not going line speed.
We move over to Manchester Piccadilly for the next clip where DRS 47s 47805 & 47802 "Pride of Cumbria" appear from behind an almost "bowl-tastic" 323 with the Glasgow - Southampton "Cruise Saver Express" boat train. Next up it's Bolton (Trinity Street) to see newly named 47854 "Diamond Jubilee" & freshly painted 47580 "County of Essex" on the return leg of the "Settle & Carlisle Statesman". Finally we go to Salford Crescent to see 47832 & 47790 head north on the return leg of "The Northern Belle".
All in all it was quite a good day considering I headed into the action with only the timings for the Deltic & somehow found out about the Belle at midnight yesterday...
The following movments were captured,
46233 Crewe - Hellifield (Light Engine) "The Hadrian"
47790 & 47832 Blackpool North - Llandudno "The Northern Belle"
55022 Didcot - York "The York Flyer"
47805 & 47802 Glasgow Central - Southampton "Cruise Saver Express"
47854 & 47580 Carlisle - Newport Gwent "Settle & Carlisle Statesman"
47832 & 47790 Llandudno - Blackpool North "The Northern Belle"
The following locomotives are featured in this video
46233 "Duchess of Sutherland"
47790 "Galloway Princess"
47832 "Solway Princess"
55022 "Royal Scots Grey"
47805
47802 "Pride of Cumbria"
47854 "Diamond Jubilee"
47580 "County of Essex"
It is worth pointing out how fantastic these locomotives appeared today, almost all were clean and shiny. The Northern Belle looked excellent with the matching livery, 47854 looked nice with it's new name plate and of course 47580 looks outstanding now sporting a Stratford Special livery with a huge Union Flag.
As always best enjoyed in 1080 with the sound up.
