I certainly preferred the old AA livery seen here over the current design.

So neat to see what things used to be like here. Much more variety (most of what we have now are regionals or US A320 family). I used to live right under the flight path; too bad I didn't appreciate it as a child. Surprising to see 747s, the best we usually do now are Lufthansa A340s. However, the other day, a BA 787 came in. What a great surprise!

Simply awesome! I had no clue Swissair flew its 743s between ZRH and PHL, nice catch!

Great video. I especially loved the Swissair 747 300 and noticed the BA 747 200 as well. That one must have clocked up some miles.

Man I wish it still looked like that. Also wish there was that good of a spot to watch rotations today. The UPS terminal is in the way now.

So that's what Philly was like before I was born, a lot more low-bypass jets!

This was the year I moved to Philly...didn't manage to get out there a lot until '07 but managed to photograph some of these lovelies around '99-'01. That bank the Post Office made at 4:25 was SICK! A last minute change to the right side of Rwy27? Also, news flash people- BA to return 747 service to PHL next month! Giggity!!!

Wow! This is so cool! I used to go planespotting back in that very year. They added something to the runway in 2000 or so and as such the roadways surrounding the airport are totally different now compared to back then.

Good video with older aircraft and liveries but the segments were too short and cut off.
@RobGilmore694 жыл бұрын
In the first 3:45 of the video, you get USAir/US Airways, American, TWA, and America West. Who'da thunk that 22 years later, they'd all be merged together as American Airlines

Nowadays there isn't really anything special at PHL. Good to see that there were some unique jets pre-pandemic.

Hold the phone here. Are you telling me there is a JP PHL video - from any period? I sure hope so. Dont know how I missed that, if there is, so i'm heading over to the JP store hoping to see PHL available in any format. I saved this for later viewing just in case. Thank you for sharing. donl

Very cool, reminiscing.... The days gone by.... I do wish each clip was a bit longer, missing out on the sounds. Like when the DC-8 passes over, I wanted to hear those JT3D's screamin! Love those ole low bypass turbofans. At least Allegiant is still operating MD-83's. Last of the low-bypass thunderliners!
@457azazazaz10 жыл бұрын
That's right but they won't be there for long. Some call classic aviation noise but I call it heaven. Now everyone is into the new 'plastic planes' and forgetting the past.
@robbieguldi6027 жыл бұрын
So much more diversity! Nowadays, there are far fewer types of aircraft at PHL, and certainly less widebodies. At least BA is sending a 747-400 here even if there are no 777s and too many A330s. Don't get me wrong, I like them too, but I want more than A320/A321s, B737s, Eee175/E145s, a few B757s and A330s, and one B747 and A340. Thank goodness BA will ad a B787 route and AA will ad passenger 767 routes to go with the FedEx and UPS B767Fs and MD-11Fs
