Philadelphia mother pays $27,000 for prom send-off castle

By now you've seen the flurry of photos and reels on your feed of teens celebrating the high school right of passage that is prom.
But, it's also sparking debate online about the idea of prom send-offs -- are they excessive or exceptional?
Treva Harris went all out for her daughter's prom send-off.
The theme was Cinderella, and the event planner transformed a city lot on Lancaster Avenue into a castle fit for a princess, or maybe a Hollywood movie.

This. Generational wealth. I thought prom-posals were crazy, but this is out of control. To each their own I guess, but it's baffling to see such a waste of money for HIGHSCHOOL PROM. This isn't a deeply-rooted cultural thing like a quincenera...this is pure vanity and conspicuous consumption. It's a weird way to live and raise your children that way, but go off 🙄. Her daughter can't put this on her resume or college applications...

Money could have been spent on a car, down payment on a house for her, college tuition, the lists could be filled with other choices. Why would Cinderella want to be the princess of the hood with cops and guns shots in a magical kindgom of crime? They say its not diversity but at least the white Cinderella got her man and went off to a peaceful magical kingdom where he actually loved her and wasn't going to make her a baby momma. That way was more inspiring than this, but they say I can't like the white version of stories anymore. I'm confused and dont understand life.🤷🏿‍♀️
