My last C-130 J ride was a 9+ hour jaunt from Guantanamo Bay Naval Station to SLC. Retired E-7, former CE and EIS (ANG) troop. We were a tanker wing but I think we flew more times than not on C-130’s. Fun times. A salute to you both, Sirs, and happy flying.

F-15 Crew Chief from Nellis here. I grew up just west of Philadelphia. We used to go to McGuire to get uniforms when I was in Civil Air Patrol in high school. Modena is a VOR not too far from Coatesville Airport where we did our orientation flights, and used as a base for our practice (and occasionally real) Search and Rescue missions. My only ride in a C-130 was in an AFRES plane from NAS Willow Grove to Wright Patterson AFB to visit the museum. I wanted to be a loadmaster after that trip. My recruiter at the Philly AFEES station said they didn't have any slots, but I could be a Crew Chief on fighters; that was when I went on DEP. Come to find out a guy in my BMT flight at Lackland got assigned to loadmaster school without a prior contract. Lying f-ing recruiter. Imagine that...

The J must feel like a sportscar, relatively speaking. Very nice RoC.

Have you flown into Sabre AHP KEOD? We had a Dyess guy in here the other day.

I have! We go in there every once in a while.

So the AF did away with the flight suit?
@ReachAviation2 жыл бұрын
We are still wearing nomex flight suits. Just two piece OCP flight suits. There is a little more info on them in the video description.

The right 010 is because WRI RAPCON probably was setting up a long final of westbound traffic to PHL RWY27L in front of you so they sent you up to MXE.

I thought all pilots do preflight walk around. Wouldn't they have checked tires.
@ReachAviation2 жыл бұрын
We did. We didnt see an issue on walk around but didnt know why we were leaning.

No pressure monitor system. We also have a very large spread of acceptable pressures. We deflate all the time for dirt and non standard runways. Its all just part of the herk. In this case it was probably a combo of the ramp and the 30 knot winds lifting the right wing.
@drush5252 жыл бұрын
Why don't you use a simple spirit level on your panel to immediately see if you're leaning.
@ReachAviation2 жыл бұрын
We can see it in the HUD and on the instruments. Just didnt know why we were leaning.

"C-130J copilots are certified to fly in both seats and have a currency requirement to get multiple left-seat rides every year." You mean outside of Upgrade training? If so this is new to me. 6000 hrs legacy Herk time.
@ReachAviation2 жыл бұрын
J-ism for sure. The J is a weird culture blend of legacy and other non herk influences.
