3 homers for the Hawk, Lee Smith in for the save, and Ryno with a great double play to end it! Harry in the booth and beer raining on Dawson's 3rd homer! It doesn't get any better! Great day to be at Wrigley! CUBS WIN!!!!

I got out of school at 2:00 and was home by 2:15 and doin homework to the Cubs games every game. My friend and I played the original baseball all stars on Nintendo and it didn't have names but you could name them yourself. I can name the entire lineup from memory. From Andre Dawson to Ryno, Shawon Dunston and the Shawn o meter, Luis Salazar on third, Mark Grace on 1st Mitch fucking Williams lol.... Zimmer will always be head coach to me as much as Ronald Reagan will always be my president. One day I'll figure out a way to get back to those days. 😊

The 1989 Cubs were my favorite Cubs team as a kid. My second favorite is the 2016 World Series team, but the reason why the ‘89 team is my favorite is because of this guy, “Awesome” Dawson. He and Maddux were my two favorite Cubs of all time. I liked Sosa and Kerry Wood too.
@chicagomike45875 ай бұрын
The 1989 Cubs were a fun team of over achieving underdogs. Very fun year - Mark Grace, Dunston, Sandberg, Dawson, etc Dawson was great but he was so bad in the 89 playoff and left so many runners on in those close games that it was sad to see and many Cub fans were down on him - but Hawk was the real deal - all natural stud.

Watching these highlights are bittersweet... You could *ACTUALLY* watch a game on free TV. The cost of going to a game was still affordable. Now you can't watch a game unless you have cable or some subscription package. You gotta take out a loan to take your family to a game. Brightside... Wrigley looks 1,000 times better today.
