Hi Phil. Just saying, one of the reasons why so many of us follow you so much is that you are not concerned with workpieces that are perfect and symmetrical. Lots of people do that stuff, including me, but watching them is like watching paint dry. It’s your very craziness that makes your work so good. Cheers Richard

Hey Phil, A majority of your viewers love you for just this sort of natural attitude towards a piece of wood. I know I keep coming back for it. Hey Phil! I believe the slightly off center bowl to the wing portion adds a nice dimension of the bowl. I didn’t thing so when you saw that the wings would not be even, but it adds a feature that adds to the appeal to the bowl. Nice, as usual!

Really nice work Phil. I'm always amazed by the finish you are able to achieve. I think the shape suits the piece. The other profile I like for winged bowls is a gentle downward curve. It seems to soften the otherwise sharp edges of a flat rectangle.

I absolutely love your unique projects! One of the reason I watch you is that you let each piece of wood guide the shape/design of the bowl. I also enjoy how you leave the "nature" in your designs. I agree with you..."perfect" bowls are boring to me. One of the other things I like about you is that you enjoy the "feel" of the wood in the same way that I do. I love your channel!!!

Absolutely perfect the finish is so silky looking and I always do love how you think outside the box and don make boring bowls! Also I am not a fan at all of beads but it is just so fitting on this it helps define the shape and I think it goes well with with the straight edges, I don’t think a curve would have been as fitting! Good as always Phil you’re the best!!!

It's been a few weeks since I added a comment. I have been busy and have watched every video. Don't change the way that you think a piece of wood should be. I made a bowl for our neighbor from part of a tree that was cut down in her yard. I left the live edge and bark inclusions and she loved it. I owe that to you. Thanks so much for your video's.

I thought at the start that it wouldn't look right, but I was wrong. The finished peice looks great - you were right in that the lopsidedness would add to the character and not take away from it.

Glad I found you Phil! I have been in machine shops for 45 years. Working with .001's and .0001's. I started bowl turning 3 years ago and told myself I would never push for perfection again. I love the freedom.

Seems to me all your turnings show the imperfections of the wood you turn. It's what we have all come to expect and love about your projects. It's your "out of the box" thinking that keeps me coming back for more.

Howdy, Phil. A lovely piece of elm with wonderful grain. I like the finish, but yep, those wings are driving me crazy! But I can’t love every piece you turn and last week was a real highlight so, as we say in the UK, swings and roundabouts. It looks like I’m in the minority anyway, most people love it. Best wishes always, Neal

Good evening, Phil. I like your bowl. I like the wings. I like the wings even if they are different. I like the finish. I like the raised part on top. I like the shape. I like your video. Thanks for making a great end to my Thursday. All the best to you my friend.

Love the grain. Staying away from the edge with the bead was the right thing to do. Makes it look intentional. Nice work, as usual.

Great shape, and the unequal sides make the piece uniquely yours. Trees don't grow in perfect symmetry in nature either. For such a common tree, elm does have beautiful grain. I really like it!!!
