Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. On October 22, 1947, Pakistan suddenly attacked Jammu and Kashmir. Among those attackers were Pakistani Army and Kabali sect terrorists. These terrorists killed innocent people, looted local residents and raped women. Then the king of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh was frightened by such behavior of Pakistan. Maharaja Hari Singh wrote a letter to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru asking for help from India. After this, Nehru put a condition called "instrument of accession" in front of maharaja Hari Singh . The conditions were that India could not send its military forces to Kashmir until Jammu and Kashmir became a part of India. So if the Maharaja signs the agreement to annex Jammu and Kashmir to India, then India will send its army to drive back the Pakistani terrorists. Later, Maharaja Hari Singh signed the "instrument of accession", since then Jammu and Kashmir has been a legal part or integral part of India.
