On a flight out of Denver, as the pilot taxied to the runway, he came on the intercom to announce a thunderstorm at the end of the runway. In order to avoid the storm he would be banking hard left once wheels up. On the way to the runway i could see the dark skies and major thunderhead. True to his word, wheels up and a hard left, i swear the wing was mere feet from the ground. The plane literally shook until the pilot started to climb abd kevel off.

Just like her older sister (777) the 787 can ride turbulence like a boss. Also, that full blue engines looks awesome. While United has the GEnx on their 787. Virgin Atlantic has the full red engines on their 787, along with the Trent 1000. It's kinda like Red vs Blue vibe.
@PhilG3809 ай бұрын
Exactly. Though I do miss seeing the wings flex on a 747-400 in turbulence. Those were the days. The 787 wing is gorgeous, however. The A350 is pretty great in turbulence as well, but the wing isn't nearly as elegant as the 787, even with those curved winglets.

@@PhilG380 If we're talking Airbus plane's wings. My favorite have to be A330neo's wing. It's different from A350, and A330ceo. If you look it from certain angle, like top view or 45 degree from behind, it actually looks very similar to 787's raked wings.
@DanCron5 ай бұрын
This plane sure does a masterful job mitigating the turbulence. I flew on one out of Denver a few years ago in typical Denver afternoon chop, and was amazed at how stable the plane was even with the wings and engines flapping about. A350 is pretty good too, but I think the 787 has a more robust turbulence dampening system atm.
@Odontomango5 ай бұрын
@@DanCron Yup, even the 787 pilot i know said it rides turbulence like a boss. (Ironically, just recently news about turbulence launching people and stuck in the ceiling, which was on a 787, but personally, I fully blame the passengers themselves cuz the Pilot turned on the seatbelt sign but these people don't obey. So they f*cked around and found out 💀. Even if the light isn't on, you should be strapping in case of clear air turbulence. Smh people. And Ofc they're gonna blame Boeing 🙄
