I seriously do not understand why he's so underappreciated. He's a fantastic musician, brilliant guitarist, and a kind soul. His solo work and work with others is top notch as well. I sure hope more people start seeing recognizing his brilliance.

Honestly? I downloaded a few of his albums and his songs aren't exactly that great. He's a proper player, but he lacks hooks in his songs. I watch him on insta, ut I don't listen to his music.

Basically the whole problem with all the acts on this ship. No songs. These people focus more on playing than actual music, it saddens me because true musicians are very rare now a days. But whatever makes you happy i guess. At the end of the day its all about songwriting.
@StratMatt777
@StratMatt777 5 жыл бұрын
He's under appreciated because nobody's heard of him. This is the first time I've heard of him. Also, Truth Street hit the nail on the head... though I wouldn't say that this cruise is the primary/only place where you find people who make minimal effort at songwriting because you can't find decent songwriters anywhere these days. Hey, at least this guy can play a badass solo and sing like Lenny Kravitz to entertain people on a blue cruise. That's good. He does kick ass.

That's exactly what goes through my mind when I see anything by him. I don't need lyrics. Just those sizzling lines and runs are enough. Could watch an hours set of instrumentals by him. Lyrics are overrated. The sad part is that 90 percent of the people I know need lyrics to float their boat and I guess that holds true for the rest.

A masterclass in how to wring every last drop of stratty goodness from one of Leo's finest vintage creations. How Sayce isn't huge is one of the universe's more perplexing mysteries. Still, often when an artists popularity increases so does the pressure from the music industry to produce and this can adversely affect them, so for all us music lovers perhaps it's best if he continues to work in relative obscurity. Sublime.

Does sound like Lenny Kravitz - but way better guitar playing..Philip's tone is killer - his string gauge looks like he's using 15s or some real heavy gauge strings ! I read an article that said Stevie Ray used 13s or some crazy almost piano wire like strings ! That was key to his tone !
@humanfly2044
@humanfly2044 5 жыл бұрын
Avatar7x7 Philip uses 12s I believe... Stevie used 13s until his fingers couldn’t do it anymore. On top of that the finger boards on the guitars he used wore out super quickly. Later in his career Stevie used to go with 11s tho... but in contrast to Stevie B.B. king used 8s and billy gibbons 7s. So you can get great tone out of every string gauge... it’s the player not the instrument that determines the sound
