Phil’s father, Derek, was the bandmaster of the Salvation Army’s New York Staff band. I had the privilege to listen to them playing a duet together. It was just wonderful.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a performance with such a cantered sound all the way through. Such musicality and accuracy. Bravo

To play this rapidly and cleanly with such a huge beautiful sound evinces world-class talent.

My goodness...the beauty and clarity of the tone...the flawless technique...he plays all over the horn and it always sounds gorgeous. Words fail me in describing this performance!

This is why I say the current crop of players in their prime suck toda because they can't sound like this. At least not in the U.S. Lots of great European players now it seems.

This is goooood! Besides the emaculate performance, the tone and intonation are the best I have ever heard!

The average person can't possibly appreciate the talent it takes to play this well. I love playing trumpet but wasn't blessed with world class talent. Philip was one of the "chosen ones".
