Among ASEAN nations, the Philippines doesn't have much infrastructure financed by Chinese debt trap loans. Many years ago, Malaysia warned the Philippines about China's Belt and Road initiatives. Instead, the Philippines stayed with Japan. Their infrastructure, like the big subway project, is financed by Japan at a very low interest rate of .001%. One reason why THE ASEAN NATIONS (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand) are silent OR DUMBFOUNDED in the issue of the South China Sea is that they are in the pocket of China. This Association serves NOTHING TO HELP THEIR MEMBERS. Japan, the United States, and South Korea must help bring economic prosperity to the Philippines. Japan and the United States must demonstrate that they can't counter China's Belt and Road initiatives, or they will lose the support of the Indo-Pacific region.

It's true, ASEAN is a useless organisation within the western pacific and this body finds it hard to create a policy regarding mutual understanding in the SCS area. However,the UNCLOS is clear and precise about international laws on the seas and since majority of the nations on this corner of the world signed to it, the UNCLOS ruling should be enough to have countries involved behave according to this international law and its rulings. The Philippines should also step up and further fund its defense modernization to have its capability at par with other neighbouring countries to improve its deterrence against invading forces like Communist China. It's true the Philippines-China conflict serves a vital role to international trade and hopefully would not result into full scale war. If it does, it should be a fast and efficient war because nobody wants it. Nobody wants wars but if inevitable, then so be it. I can serve and am willing to die for our sovereignty.

Yes! No other better name than calling it "South East Asia Sea" instead. However, I want to correct a part of your statement. "West Philippine Sea" does not refer to the whole of South China Sea. After the Philippines' winning the 2016 arbitral award, it refered only the part of the sea WITHIN the 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone as "West Philippine Sea" which is just right and legal.

The Philippines likes to claim sovereignty over these islands through distance. That is bullshit. Sovereignty is never determined by distance, otherwise Hawaii and Guam would not be US territory. The territorial scope of the Philippines was determined by the 1898 Treaty of Peace between the United States and Spain (Treaty of Paris), the 1900 Treaty of cedation of peripheral islands of the Philippines between the United States and Spain (Treaty of Washington), and the 1930 Treaty on Delimitation of the Boundary between British North Borneo and the United States Philippines. Islands in the South China Sea have never been within the scope of these treaties.

You are full of false assumptions and fakenews. The Philippines' has both territorial and sovereign claim in parts of South China Sea. PH territorial claims are based on concrete evidences such as 1734 century old map. PH's territory was also based on Treaty of Paris and the Treaty of Washington. That includes the Spratly islands which is already PH's territory centuries ago as reflected in 1734 Murillo Velarde Map. On the part of sovereign claim, the basis of PH's is the UNCLOS itself in which China is also a signatory. That is where 200 nautical mile EEZ is coming from. Now, let's talk about China's basis of claims. What do they have? None. Territorial wise, their century old maps shows that their last island is Hainan China. Certainly, they do not own the whole South China Sea. Sovereignity wise, what China claims is already outside it's own EEZ. That is why China lost in Hague Arbitration and is afraid to challenge the PH legally coz China will lost in any courts because China knows itself that they just made up their claims. That is why they are using force to claim. Coz legally, they will lost.
