Mactan-Cebu International Airport's Terminal 2 won the Grand Prize during the 2019 World Architecture Awards in Amsterdam for the Completed Buildings besting out Singapore's Changi Airport Jewel and Istanbul International Airport. It also won several international awards already including Best Airports in Asia-Pacific (for 10-20 million handling capacity category) three times already, first in 2016, second in 2018 and third in 2023. Other than that, its bar, The Cabin, likewise won the grand prize for Bar of the Year in Asia-Pacific Airport Food and Beverage Awards held recently in Dallas Texas in 2019. MCIA’s T2, along with the Incheon International Airport in South Korea, was named by the International Architecture Awards (IAA) as one of the 2019 International Architecture Awardee for Airports and Transportation Centers. So far, MCIA is the only airport in the Philippines that has been recognized and won international awards from global awarding bodies.

I spent 3 days in the Radisson Blu back in June. Breakfast bar was on point. The shower had two different heads. After spending 2 weeks from kapatanga to Loreto, back to Cebu, that $405.00 price tag for three days, was totally worth the price 😂

I always fly into and out of Cebu. I hate the Manila airport experience and that’s international and domestic. Changi is my favorite airport and I absolutely love Singapore airlines. Do they still offer the steamed towels during the flight?

I stayed there my first time in the Philippines. The girls that ran the bar on the roof are great. Going to stay there for a few days when i come back at Christmas time.

I stayed there 3 nights once when the ferry was canceled for three days due to weather. Yes, the breakfast buffet was excellent. That coffee /Starbucks cafe -type place across from the entrance is great. They have really good deserts. Perfect place to go if you want to get out of the hotel, but it is raining.

Hell Marcos , just wondering why you took Scoot 2 flights going South to Singapore and then North to Bangkok. I prefer Philipinne Airline direct flight CEB to BKK. I know Scoot is cheaper but is is worth it. Looking forward to follow your stay in the Land od Smile.

It amazed me how Changi airport is totally carpeted. Was there last year enroute to Bali. As you said, many people sitting on the floor but imagine the fleas and bed bugs that could be lurking! No thank you, not the best material for an airport with millions of travellers passing through. I had an eight-hour layover so stopped at the airport hotel inside the terminal, it was like a shoebox for 150 USD and something I didn't notice when I booked, communal toilets and showers so never consider that option. Mind you, better than sitting on the airport floor. Thanks for sharing!

That's the very reason why the designers of Mactan-Cebu Airport rejected the use of carpets on its floor as many had suggested during its planning and construction stage. So they opted instead custom-made tiles which depicts sandy beach, that echoes Cebu's reputation as a beach destination.

# 2 for an American, the price was cheap for what you got. So close to what you need, CLEAN, pleasant staff, great food - beautiful to look at, if I didn't have a house in Cebu, I would stay there just from your video. I will let my friends know about this hotel.

I like Park Center Mall across the street and they have about 5 atm's, love Thirty's Coconut Shakes there. Also just down the street is Cebu Westown Lagoon which has a massive pool with water slides for 200 p and rooms but not as nice as Bia

That buffet likes wonderful. I recently stayed in the SEDA in IT Park. Nice room and view from the roof top bar but the breakfast buffet was a disaster. Thank for the tip and I will try the bai on my next trip.

I stayed at the Seda Ayala a couple months back, former Marriott, I thought the breakfast buffet was decent there. I was the only white guy in there, lots of Chinese and Korean guests.

I just stayed at the heritage in manila, it was awesome and great staff. Then I stayed at go hotel in bacolod, it shares a parking lot with robinsons mall, go hotels are owned by robinsons also. It was cheap and great location.

It's BAI Hotel. It's located in Mandaue City, not in Cebu City. Bai is a local Cebuano term of endearment for 'friend', 'pal', and can be used to either sex.

Being a secondary airport (next to NAIA) MCIA doesn't have as many flights as the main airport. MCIA connects to more than 30 international destinations but most of them operate during late afternoon till dawn. By the time sun comes up, flights become less frequent.

Clark Airport's design is a poor copycat of MCIA. It's only because the government wanted the builder (GMR-Megawide) to also use the same glulam (glue-laminated) timber that MCIA but didn't want to pay extra. So, to work around with the budget at hand, the builder simply gave in to the whims of the government officials (Tugade and his cohorts) and came out with a poor version. Poor Clark Airport, it doesn't even look an international airport inside because of the absence of international shops operating there.
