I got the X3s today. And they seem noticably uhm lesser, in the low end, like, less, impactful and not as deep. rtings seem to confirm this, also seem worse in treble and midrange based off of their comparison with the X2HR.

In short: the X2 HR's sound almost exactly the same : "20 minutes blind test with these I would have a hard time telling them apart" and they (x2's) are more than half cheaper and have a better cable. Thanks, I'm skipping the x3's for sure👍

The price is irrevelant in long term in THAT DEPTH as we hear this video... Like, for now the X3 had a drastic price drop, its 100$ in my country.... So i just say, that sound, how it sounds is much more important cuz its a permament thing, while the price is just termporary and dynamic with time.

After following your advice a couple of years ago on a not so comproming (price-wise) good IEM and buying the TIN T2's and enjoying them thoroughly (still...), I decided to make the leap into a pair of good heaphones. I was looking on the 100€ range and after a long time researching (on your website too), took the leap on a pair of Phillips Fidelio X2HR. Holy shit.... All I can say is thank you, again.

I like the look of the X3's better but I don't think they sound better. There is a treble peak in the X2's that bothers me sometimes and I find myself turning the volume down occasionally because of it (and I'm a Beyer fan). I like the X2's overall but they aren't my favorites. I find the X3's to be brighter, sibilant and with less bass which makes the balance even worse. But that's just my opinion based on my X2's compared to the X3's that I borrowed. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who find the X3's to be a sonic improvement.

Got the X2HR in July after looking at all reviews. I guess I even looked 3 times at Zeos his review. At the time, I knew these X3s were coming but I reasoned that the launch price would be high and that Phillips choose a new direction. And honestly I liked the price of the X2 HR then and was extremely curious for the sound. Guess Philips has some homework to do for the X3 gen2... for now I’m delighted with my X2HRs.

Pretty much the same for me. Was thinking about buying a headphone, had a few pairs on my wish list, but then noticed a deal for the X2HR and out of a "they are going to be replaced probably discontinued soon" and "oh that is a good price" momentum just ordered X2HR. Couldn't be happier with em, love on first tone playing music. I'm not using em for gaming though but music all the time, for me they are very comfortable so also very welcome for videos(yt, series, movies) too.

@Jutang1992
@Jutang1992 4 жыл бұрын
@@KloVnPT The GSX1000 and 1200 are amps. Not the most powerful amps though but they definitely make a difference. One of the main selling points for them though are their gamer centric options like micmonitoring and separating game audio from chat audio (with a separate volume wheel for each). But the best feature has to be the surround sound setting that it offers. Its not a gimmick, it works amazingly well for competitive gaming. It's expensive though.

I own both, got the X3s first and later the X2s because every reviewer out there claimed the X2s are better....but they are not. There is this consensus that the X3s are brighter and more peaky in the treble than the X2s. To my ears, and I may be the only one yet, the X3s are smoother, have more warmth in the mids. Especially vocals sound fuller. But I agree, their bass is leaner and tighter. Their timbre I think is better than that of the X2s, which I find to be grainy at times. I find the X3s to be more like the HD650s, but with wider and better soundstage, due to bit recessed mids and with brighter highs. I listen classical music a lot and with natural recordings the X3s beat the X2s in a significant way. I got them cheap and didn't expect much. First auditions I compared them with the HD650s and I found the HD650s to be better overall, save for soundstage. But after three weeks, listening to them for 6-8 hours a day I prefer them over the HD650s. Their brighter signature is only apparent in direct comparison with my NightHawks and HD650. But just using them on a daily base I find them very unfatiguing, just like the NightHawks and HD650s. I may turn into a treble head, because their highs are simply glorious, just the right amount of peaks and dips, to my ears never harsh, hard or sibilant, as if they were custom tuned to my ears.

@@albertweedsteinthethuggeni7797 I paid 207 euro, so yes. But at their retail price? I don't think the Sundara's are that better, maybe in a technical way, but certainly not in built quality and musical enjoyment. The HD650s cost me 330 euro (in Europe we don't have Massdrop's HD6XXs) and even though I think the HD650s are technically and tonally better I like the X3s better. So it is all relative. The X2HR are some of the best value for money in audio. Unless the X3 is noticeably better, forget it. The next close thing are 4XX/58X (and now the M570 for $199 which if you get a good pair are outstanding) but the X2 are sooooo comfortable and durable and wide and warm. They do EVERYTHING well. Nothing spectacular but every single genre of music sounds good on them. Get the X2.

(english + spanish) 100% agree with everything you say , my bad mood when I see silly details like the bad finish of the glued leather, the long cables "hard and uncomfortable" and difficult to replace, their hot pads that itch in my ears (although a little better than my X2 HR) have made me think about returning my X3s to amazon, but then I remember I paid u$130 for them and realize I can invest a little more in a good cable on aliexpress plus a good set of pads with cooling gel, and after the extra investments it's still a spectacular buy . I loved my Fidelio X2 HR and I'm starting to fall in love with these Fidelio X3, its design, its light weight, its comfort, its materials, its sound ... We will see if our relationship prospers and we get to a happy marriage that lasts for many years.

I think i remember you mentioning the sound stage of the x2hr's being one of the closest things to hd800 or something like that. Feel like if they really made a massive jump in the original price of those, to this, they should've been more cognizant and aware of what it should actually be trying to accomplish if anything. Its strange the hd800 is a dynamic and not a planar. But this is a dynamic too. So it should've had a clear idea of what to try and beat. But otherwise, competing with itself it shouldn't really warrant a big price bracket increase.

I picked these up today and ran them on my Fiio x5 gen3. I plugged them in using the standard cables. My reaction was similar to some other reviewers where they were saying things like "needle sharp" and "treble canons". Kinda miserable unless you turn the volume way down. Then I pulled out that balanced cable and set the fiio to Hi gain and balanced turbo. The treble is much more under control (although still sometimes sibilant), and the soundstage is wider. I think these are just bad performers out of balanced mode. Not sure if I'm going to keep them. Got a THX 789 arriving tomorrow. I fear my eardrums might blow out with this combo :)
@erickruse4679
@erickruse4679 3 жыл бұрын
I was totally wrong about the THX and Fidelio. Plugged into the THX, these Fidelios sound like something special. Now I'm thinking that treble spike was an extremely narrow range of something like 100hz that goes way out of control on a weak amp. These things still have lots of treble, but my ears are no longer ringing on the THX, and the whole thing comes together into a cohesive musical presentation. I actually might like these better than the Sundara's for about half my music.

So I think it's pretty safe to say the X3's would be the better option right now, at least for me as a Canadian.. When they were $400 it might be a different story. These X3's are absolutely gorgeous in style. Not that that is the important part. But still.. So if sound is the same or tiny bit better can't go wrong?

@@yalfi7585 I like them both the same as they are totally different headphones. Some one note songs can come off as boring on the 58x because of it's sound signature while the X2hr has some treble spikes in some regions, especially with 90's house (90s Daft Punk or Ken Ishii for example). Admittedly, I use my bluetooth headphones most of the time for the convenience when I'm doing schoolwork.

Before you buy another headphone, I suggest you exchange your 004's stock pads with these $15 soft flannel pads available on Amazon: B07T7W2Q15. I think you'll be impressed. For full disclosure, I haven't heard this headphone/pads combo, but I have heard the 004 and own these pads and know how they generally affect the sound of headphones. Please let me know the results.

I loved the sound. It did exactly what I expected of the X3. When another reviewer says different things you need to question the consistency of the manufacturing FIRST.. He is on the other side of the country so who knows what his set of X3 was doing on his equipment. Personal Taste has a lot to do with it but if there is faulty hardware you are going to get a confusing mess on the internet.
