First off, your English is perfect, so there's no need to worry about that. Secondly, thank you for the video. I just picked up a couple more switches because I moved, and now have more rooms in the apartment, and they only had these new-style switches for sale, so I was curious to see the differences. Your video was very informative. Keep it up!

Nice video. Strange conclusion - it is much better. It is different, but some things have gone in the reverse direction: 1. The previous one could be stuck under a table, to have it close and invisible in some rooms as an extra. The new one has a magnet that does not really allow for this, when you touch the switch not extremely careful, it just falls. 2. When you have the switch visible on the wall, the HUE logo is much too apparent. 3. When you use the switch in an invisible place, the very smal tangible strip that was added, is not enough to operate the switch without seeing it. On the old and new I have solved this by sticking smal transparent rubber bump protectors of different sizes to two of the 4 buttons, but Signify should have understood that in all cases it would be nice to operate the switch without having to closely look at it. To make a long story short: I was lucky to find some old versions at Mediamarkt yesterday and bought some extra for when it will be completely out of stock.

Can you customize the action of the long press? E.g., set the lights to a specific scene? I'd like an easy way to go to a "default" scene. Thanks for the video.
@Hr.Kolding3 жыл бұрын
It would have made more sense if they tied the time based click with the on button, so when I turn the light on it would go straight to the scene I chose for the specific time frame.

I am searching the entire internet for this issue. I wonder why so few people complain about it. When I press the power or hue button it uses a brightness I have not configured anywhere. Then you have to press the hue button (but only once!). Even though I configured time based lighting and not the scene cycle, clicking the hue button again does cycle between the scenes. Did you find a solution?

So, if you put it over a bare European wall socket instead of the existing switch, what are you supposed to do with the bare wires? Solder them together?
@jamiemac42083 жыл бұрын
You'd want to put them in a screwed connector block behind the switch so that power is constant, but also you can revert back to a standard switch in future easier than if there were soldered.

Can you control rooms separately with this switch? I have 2 rooms and 1 old switch but I can't turn of 1 room without also turning of the other room.
@alexanderpasnl3 жыл бұрын
Two rooms to be controlled separately on one remote would be kind of weird. When you press 'on' on the remote, which room would you want to be switched on then? And how would the remote know which of the rooms it should control at that moment? So no, only one room. But you can control a ZONE. If you make a zone containing lamps from both rooms, you can control them at once, so not separately. But you can also do that with the old dimmer switch, you don't need to get the new version for that. There are dimmer switches from Friends of hue so different brands, which might be able to do that. There are some that have four buttons that I believe can control different rooms or zones. But those are 80-140 euro's each. You might be better and cheaper of placing two Hue switches next to each other. The only thing I can think off with only one remote to control 2 rooms separately is by creating a zone which contains lamps from both rooms and make scenes which switch on or off the lamps per room. In scene 1 you only light up lamps in room A and in scene 2 you put lamps from room B. But that limits the possibilities of course. You can't choose for a lighting scene per room that way. It can be handy for some people perhaps. If you for instance have a hallway downstairs and a hallway upstairs. You could place a remote downstairs. Then you make a scene with the lights on in only the downstairs hallway and place that under the first press. Then you make a scene with all the lights on, so downstairs and upstairs and then a new scene with only the lights on at the upstairs hallway. At no 4 you could choose one light upstairs and one light downstairs completely dimmed as nightlight. Now when you are pressing the on button, the lights will go on downstairs. Pressing it again will switch on the lights upstairs too. Pressing a third time will switch off the lights downstairs while leaving on the lights upstairs. You could place another remote upstairs with this the other way around. When you press the button upstairs at first only the lights upstairs will go on, 2nd lights downstairs turn on ass well and 3rd upstairs go out. But I think this is only handy when you use regular white lights, since you can't control the colours any more because you used scenes to 'kind of' separate the rooms.

@makhoka3 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderpasnl haha das echt grappig idd xD maar zoiets als met die zones is wel een goeie.. want het is in principe 1 ruimte, maar ingedeeld in keuken en woonkamer. One important thing one should notice. The time-based feature doesn't work as one might expect. When you click the power or hue button you won't get the desired brightness, instantly. You have to click the hue button again...

@AndreasRP.4 жыл бұрын
There’s literally no reason to get the “new” version if you have the “old” one. It’s the exact same but with a bigger housing and a slightly different remote lol they could’ve at least added some more functionality to it
@youdig-detection3 жыл бұрын
It’s not better than the v1. V1 got : a reset button, ability to pair 2 remote without the hue bridge , magnet on the base and the remote . V2 got : coin slot to open the battery and none of the above. so for me the V2 is bad in comparaison of v1 which got way more convenient feature.

When the lights are on and the remote is idle, when you press the hue button, does it change the scene after the first or the second press? Mine changes on the second press as if the first press wakes up the remote. I would like to know if this is normal. Thank you.

Similar behaviour on my device. The bulb gets on with the first press, already. But not with the inteded brightness. I have to press again (but not a third time as it will cycle through the other scenes instead. Even though they are not within the current time frame...)
