I like to use bulbs that work with my Google home and Samsung smartthings routines.. That combo isn't always easy to find but I have recently found some good smart bulbs, that also changes colors, that work great. I have Philips hue bulb and hub. Too expensive so I went a different path

I just want a light bulb which will change colours for my room. Would buying a philips hue be too extreme for an average person like me?

I got LIFX bulbs for my living room which were easy to add to Apple homekit but keep dropping out of my network, which when your trying to go to bed is really annoying having to wait for them to reconnect

If you like to use all functionalities that comes with smart lights, i definetly reccomend philips hue. Colors and quality are awesome beside this you can use the best sync method, a tons of apps. While with most competitors you always run into limitations, especialy with sync. Most people don't know that the alternative cannot sync 4k 60hz dolby vision hdr+ and dolby atmos. While everybody flames about the syncbox pricetag and point at govee, lifx etc as alternative, but once bought you get very dissapointed with the result.

In bulbs i actually went the route of installing a smart dimmer switch that works with alexa around $20ish or less then i just buy regular non-smart dimmable bulbs.
