Oh my! I simply love your patience in giving an extremely detailed, precise & to the point review leaving no room behind for doubts of any sort. I never knew how these shavers operate till I saw this video. I thought it did a pretty good job on Chef Pops I think his rating seemed more practical. But since you are the end user, you know it more than I do. And most importantly the cleaning of this product is extremely practical. 5* to a beautiful review. I wish to see you becoming a brand ambassador to many such products since you know how to describe them better than many commercials & reviewers. ❤️❤️❤️👌🏻👌🏻🤗

As you can see Chef Pops got in on the action! This was a teamwork review! It did do a really nice job on his face so for his face a 9 is right. But my hair is different and I am also comparing it to the closeness of the andis shaver I just reviewed and I gave that an 8 and it was a closer finish. Therefore since that is my benchmark I had to go a bit lower because it is not as close as the andis shaver. But still it does a great job. A 7 or 7.5 is still a high mark in my opinion. I think the highest I could give a shaver is a 9 anyways. Only if a shaver cuts the same as a razor blade would I ever give it a 10! So maybe never! I also like how easy and practical it is to clean this shaver. Being able to wash it is one of my favourite perks about this shaver! Once again thanks for your kind words and I will try to continue to keep the reviews coming in with through breakdowns! :) Sending you lots of love and thanks for taking the time to watch as always and keep the detailed comments coming! It's always fun to read them! :)

Excellent review by you and your father. Your dad's demonstration was clear, detailed and the reason I've bought a Philips rotary shaver of my own. And hats off to you dad for getting the most out of his last shaver, 30/40 years is fantastic! Have a nice day guys! Sending love from England ❤

Thanks for such a thoughtful and in depth comment! My pops sends his regards! He says in the old days they made products to last a lifetime, so as long as you take care of them they will last a long time. Not so sure about what is made these days, but the Phillips brand is one my father wanted to go with and he's enjoying this one for sure! Happy to know that the demo was clear and the reason why you got your own shaver! I am pretty sure you're going to enjoy it! Much love from Canada! Cheers!

just a tip for a better shave: use a pre-electric lotion or a pre-electric shave oil; it will soften the hair and the shaver practically will glide on your face and give you a much closer, smoother, cleaner shave, with no redness or irritation at all. I have been using an electric shaver for more than 33 years and never looked back to blades.
@Kaygee792 жыл бұрын
Very interesting! I didn't know there was such a thing as a pre-electric lotion! I just learned something new! I think for hair like mine it most likely will be helpful as it is thicker. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. Hopefully it helps others who read your comment at well! My dad also has been using electric shaver for years, I've always been a blade user. I'm slowly starting to use the shavers more though as it is really quick and easy with them... I guess I'm slowly getting swayed in that direction! :)
@ROCKGRINDER122 жыл бұрын
@@Kaygee79 get the lotion or the oil and you will see how great the electric shaving experience can be, also keep your shaver clean and from time to time "lubricated", as this will maintain the sharpness and durability of the blades; I have followed these two rules and believe me all the shavers I have had I never changed the blades, the batteries died first but I kept the shavers with the same blades as lubrication and cleaning are both very important for the good life service of your shaver.
@Kaygee792 жыл бұрын
@@ROCKGRINDER12 Appreciate all these tips, they are awesome! :)
@Moiez101 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Is it the oil that says "shaver oil"?
@ROCKGRINDER12 Жыл бұрын
Hi, "shaver oil" is for lubricating the shaver, not for the actual shaving, you must get "shaving oil" (sometimes you may find also "pre-electric shaving oil) printed on the back of the normally "plastic" bottle (King of shaves is a good quality pre-electric shaving oil) or any brand for that fact; or if you can, get the "pre-electric lotion", that also has properties to soothe and make the shaving easier and irritation free; I have been using electric shavers for more than 33 years (I gave up wet blade shaving as it was too painful and irritating to my skin) and normally I just go for the "dry electric shave mode", using pre-electric lotion or pre-electric shaving oil ............. just get the right one for you and you will feel the difference when shaving. good luck.

Great review! Actually I saw the sale at Canadian Tire and purchased it today here in Greenfield Park, Quebec as a gift for a family member! I have an 8 or 9 yr old Philips shaver and it's still 100% awesome. Keeps its charge and cleans very easily. Just had to change the blades a couple of years go, but that's just normal maintenance. Cheers to you and your Dad!
@Kaygee793 жыл бұрын
Love this comment, first off thanks for watching! Dad was just telling me earlier in the day that it was back sale here too in Toronto so hopefully anyone else watching during this time can go pick it up for an excellent price! As you saw in the video demonstration this shaver does a really nice job and if I were to get it as a gift I would be happy with it for sure! I see that you made the purchase based off of your own personal experience with owning a Philips shaver for 8+ years and its the same reason my dad bought this one as he had his original Philips shaver for many years. So looks like it's a solid company in that regard! I love how this one can be washed under the tap and makes it very easy to clean. If your family member needs any tutorial or guide once they open the gift feel free to send them over here to watch the review and demo so they can get a jump start on how best to use the product! Happy holidays and all the best in the years to come! :)

Nice, clear and through review! BTW, as far as I know, the 'washable, but not for wet shaving' bit is just a safety feature. The 'wet and dry' counterparts are exactly the same, only they are programmed not to turn on when plugged in. So, I wouldn't worry about using this for wet shaving AS LONG AS IT'S NOT PLUGGED IN WHILE YOU SHAVE. If you don't want to do that though, there are pre-shave products designed for elective shavers such as alcohol-based lotions, powders and oils. Stuff like Lectric Shave, Afta and others. They can improve your shaving experience and they work for dry shaving.
@Kaygee79 Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for the insight in regards to the wet shave capability! I will keep this in mind going forward and since my dad is the one using this I'll ask him to try it out to see if he likes it better. He is used to doing a dry shave and it works fine for him but always good to have options! Appreciate the information! :)

Hey Kaygee! Thank you for the thorough review of the product and your tips! My hubby also has thicker hair and sensitive skin....he suggests to shave after he showers so that the hair is softened from shower water and moisture by the time he shaves them. Thank you for the timely review for people looking for gift ideas for Christmas and holiday season! ❤️👍🥰

My pleasure to share this review with you! Shaving after a shower also works as it will surely soften up the hair. In my case I would have to shower again after shaving because I'm the kind of person that shaves first and then showers lol. I can't do it the other way around, that's just me lol, so that is why my way of softening my facial hair is different but that also works just fine! I thought this is a perfect time of year for a video like this. The shaver is also on sale again at Canadian Tire so people can get it for the reduced price again so the timing is surely on point for this product! :D

@Kaygee792 жыл бұрын
Well if you can find the shaver we bought, we got it on sale for 30 dollars and it is brand new. Why buy a second hand if you can find a new one for a great price! I think the blades can be replaced but you have to search for the specific blades for your model of shaver online. Most likely they will sell it on Amazon or sometimes the stores that sell the specific shaver also will sell the replacement blades too. Always good to do your homework on the specific shaver you are buying! Thanks for watching and for your comment! :)

Would you say that this is more comfortable to use than the andis shaver you talked about?
@Kaygee792 жыл бұрын
Well it has a better ergonomic design so better to hold it and use it. Also if it is being used strictly to shave the face this shaver does much better with longer hair and overall ease of use. It contours better to the face as well when shaving. So overall it is more comfortable in my opinion. The andis shaver requires you to already have your hair at a stubble point to do a good job so you would have to bring it down with one of the andis trimmers first. Great question! :)

Nice video and detailed. But... Why didn't PHILIPS more autonomy into these devices. ...? ~1h charging for just ~40 minutes of runtime...? And we need to put it to charge which involves always inserting a custom tip of a usb cable. With some thinking and engineering, they could put a charging coil compatible with charging stations would make life easier. That would allow also to close the charging port. It's too frustrating when the battery runs out. I was shaving and then the sound of the thing started to get lower and the shaver stopped, I pressured the power button, Opened the blades zone, and pressed the button, the motor was running, I thought to myself that the blades were clogged or something. Then I realised that the light was flashing... I can get more sessions (more than a day of runtime) with a piece of crap shaver that I can put 2x 2000mAh rechargeable batts. To say the truth... this product and the base line of products like this one ... are just trash. It's ideal for those with low budget but it's preferable to waste more money in a machine that has more autonomy or allows shaving during recharging. Beard and hair doesn't stop growing unfortunately and we need constantly cutting the beard. Those who have low budget like me and see these products a money saving for manual blades, soon they realise that they wasted money where many sites doesn't really tell how long the battery lasts. They say 40min/session but what this really means... it means the battery only lasts ~40 minutes with motor always on, not 40 minutes for a full shaving. Plus, some sites say... 8 hours charging and that implies that the shaver should run for many hours. It does cut beard and hair but it's marketed that we need to change the blades every 2 years. Who can guarantee that the replacements will be available the next 10 years, or the battery still is ok for 10 years... or the charding port doesn't break? I expected more from PHILIPS.

@@Kaygee79 No problem. Your video is excellent and very helpful. I probably need to correct myself. I bought a philips shaver 1000 something and I just feel odd the low runtime for 8 hours charging (not 1 as I said). I used the thing for 2 light beard shavings and it stopped when I was about 98% finishing. The shaver took... about 8 hours to charge. I even used a usb charger from a tablet (5v, 2A). I put it to charge yesterday for the second time since purchase and meanwhile that, I rotated the blade's mechanism and inspected the blades, just to check how it works. But it's like what I commented... I perfered a lil fatter shaver with more autonomy than this kind of poor autonomy.
@Kaygee794 ай бұрын
@@hugosimoes5119 I wonder if a higher model number would serve you better? I only own the 1000 series shaver and this is sort of the base version of the rotary shaver. My father is the one who uses it and for him it still works well. I know sometimes he uses it while plugged in with the charger and it still works like that for him. So if you battery goes low just try using it like a regular plug in shaver and it should be fine to finish off your shave.

It's amazing to see how many people use Philips shavers! We're all part of team Philips lol! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the review! Merry Christmas! :D

The important question is: Does it work while connected to the charger? Nobody mentions this in their reviews, it's so annoying, because that's an important attribute for a shaver!
@Kaygee794 ай бұрын
Yes it does. So one day when the battery no longer does its job you will still be able to plug it in and use it that way!

Hi the New ones (1000 series) do not work when connected to wire/charger. Maybe something to protect from electric shocks.
@Kaygee792 ай бұрын
@@amitanivfx That sucks. Ours works wireless or plugged in. Therefore in the future when the battery doesn't work we can always use it like a plug in style. This is news to me. My father just used it today plugged in because the battery was low. It's so convenient to have that feature.

@@Kaygee79 charging time seems very slow.
@Kaygee79 Жыл бұрын
@@chuckmaddison2924 Yes that is weird for sure. It shouldn't take 3 hours to charge. Hopefully everything is plugged in properly and the battery is good. If it doesn't charge up fully you might need to take it back and try out a different one and see if that is any better. Very strange...

@@Kaygee79 All plugged in , light just kept flashing. Eventually stopped. I will give a good go first. If not happy, back to Harvey Norman.

Lol one way to look at it. Or you can call it a budget Phillips! It works great though so the brand is reliable either way!
