For you to know, you do can replace the ear pad, take a credit card, get the card to push into the tight slot between the ear pad and the body, there are 4 hook between the body and the pad, push inside, and take the ear pad out. Use some forth to do that, it won't break.

@stevenbikes19369 жыл бұрын
Hans Power up
@piotrkrolikowski93359 жыл бұрын
Hans Power i have both, they are both good headphones imo The EVO are much better at dealing with noise leakage. The 9500 can be heard at pretty much any volume. Which given the construction of the headphones isn't a surprise. The evo at moderate volume can't really be heard at all which considering the soundstage you get is impressive i think. The soundstage on the SHP is larger(not much larger but noticeable), and i think they have a little bit more clarity. They have less of a boomy bass which i tend to enjoy for gaming since too much boomy bass tends to annoy me since it drowns out other noises. That said the superlux have a good bass response makes a grenade in BF4 have some punch to it. The vocals are better on the SHP in my opinion. Comfort wise the SHP are the winner as well. Very light and the pads are great. That said the evo have their place as well. All in all i certainly don't regret my purchase but if your short on cash etc i would say skip them. I got them on sale on newegg for 45 bucks so good purchase but the superlux are a good headphone as well.
@pkroliko19 жыл бұрын
+Speed&Angels i switched to other pads that superlux provided i think they are velour as you say. As for the 9500 i didn't mod them at all. After having them for some more time they have become my all around headphone for home use. The comfort is great and ultimately i do recommend them a lot. The sound is awesome and i think for the price they are definitely worth it. The bass response is there and while maybe not super thumpy its a very nice bass. It really allows the mids and treble to come out as its not very overpowering. I am far from a bass head so for me they are quite enjoyable.

I recently bought the Hifiman HE-400s. I was wondering what your thoughts and opinions are on audiophile headphones, amps, dacs, etc. Are they worth the premium price for gaming, music, movies, and so on? If the headphones are indeed worth it, should one get the amps to supplement them??
@Reaper4789 жыл бұрын
Yeah I went there. I learned a lot about DACs and Amps. I got my 400s today and I noticed they sound noticeably better on my Galaxy S5 compared to my custom built PC. That's really weird as I primarily want to use these on the desktop.
@djmandrick9 жыл бұрын
***** can't guarantee but that might likely due to the fact the S5 I have an inbuilt DAC I believe, (I get the same issue you report on my Eightball EX10 earbuds which for £35 are phenomenal and my choice over any big headphone as I wear glasses most of the time which make large overear headphones generally uncomfortable or sometimes unwearable. I use them all day everyday on my S5, and for gaming on my pc On topic: your desktop may or may not have a DAC depending on what method you are powering your headphones by - direct motherboard its highly unlikely. I also even find that there is sometimes a difference between Windows media player and VLC on playback via the desktop so applications may also be affecting the differences further. That's just my opinion on what I find so no idea how much weight it holds technically as I'm neither a phone or audiophile buff. Someone will no doubt correct me. :)
@btoiscool9 жыл бұрын
+djmandrick I can explain: Every device has both a DAC and a amp in them, otherwise, they will not actually play, unless you're using say a vinyl, as you need to convert the digital signal to a analogue signal (because humans hear analogue, so that's what headphones output), as well as the headphones having enough juice to be actually powered. Samsung is actually known for making adequate audio source components in their devices compared to other major phone manufacturers (a media player will most likely beat it). Seeing as it's somehow better than a desktop, I assume you have a mobo with some cheap onboard audio, in which this would make sense. As far as software, not only does the player matter (it does, custom software for media players is a thing for a reason), but the music format matters. FLAC's might take up much more space, but if you have the ears for it, you will hear the difference.
@djmandrick9 жыл бұрын
+Godin The Killer thanks for posting the clarification. As Im using onboard and don't use a specified soundcard anymore as frankly i don't need it as I don't need to hook in external sources and my DJing software records directly to the HD. My mobo isn't cheap but i mid range and sound on it is good (HDMI to TV to external 5.1 amp). Agree removing compression is the way forward but everything I buy is 320mp3 which is def good enough for what i need it for. The desktop I use (or used to use) all day was a work desktop so yep, that would be the result of a drop in quality - cheapo PC. My S5 is def best mobile sound I've heard and they pair perfectly with my buds (certainly goes louder than I'd want it with more bass than any normal person would want.) so for me I've got the perfect combination for a price I'm willing to pay for the quality I'm happy with which I guess is always the compromise on anything we all buy. :)
@btoiscool9 жыл бұрын
djmandrick I never said your mobo was cheap, I said it had cheap audio on it, which is the vast majority (aka 95% of them) of mobos. Also, I'm weird in that I can't stand my phone audio (MotoX 2nd gen), so I use a protable DAC and amp.

+Tech YES City Hello, I am searching for a good set of headphones for 50$ or under and was hoping you could help me out, I have heard many good things about the Superlux 668b's and the 681 EVO's, both being semi open. I dont really know much about headphones, but at this moment all i have is a turtle beach p11 headset, so i would really like to buy something better. I plan on using them for both gaming and music, about 50/50, so i want a good all around set of headphones with nice bass to keep things good, as i tend to listen to a lot of bass type music, plus i sometimes play games where explosions and things would be nice when enhanced. +CaptAUGsome Hey I saw your comment and I am very curious to hear what you finally ended up buying since I'm in the EXACT position as you were two months ago with getting a good pair of headphones/headset for the PS4.
@btoiscool9 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Ekholm Okay, I'm going to explain this to you since I've gotten to actually listen to both: 500X: Pros- Lightweight, very open soundstage (some claim that it's so open it's distorted), your ears can feel the breeze (because it's so open). cons- the mechanism that keeps it on your head (the wing things) are not spring loaded, so unless your head is gigantic, it won't sit right on your head. Also, you can hear everything from the outside world (and it's not because it's open, it's because there's barely anything blocking sound coming in). Sound quality: It has very little bass quantity, but the bass it has extends really low, so you'll get nice, clean bass, even though it's barely there. Mid range is more flat than anything, and its highs are a bit bright. So if you want to stalk footsteps, or Listen to classical music/music similar to classical (hell, even record music with it), these are the headphones you want. SHP 9500: Pros- It's pretty comfortable, and it's got a quite large soundstage (I's no air series, but it's large). Also, your ears will love you for putting them in those pads. Cons- Pads are not removable (because reasons), and the earpads for many (but not all) are sweat magnets. If you sweat a lot, I'd think twice about these. If you don't though, you should be generally fine. Sound Quality: It's similar to the 500x in the mids and highs imo, just a bit closer to neutral. However, this has a lot more bass imo (the tradeoff from being more closed. Paired with a tube amp, these are perfect for a more laid back, "casual" experience.

+Jacob Ekholm KZbin never alerted me to the replies here and I stumbled here by chance well researching. I never pulled the trigger. So, funnily enough I would like to know what you decided on.
@jacobekholm26459 жыл бұрын
I decided that since I would most likely only use the headset for PS4 gaming I would like a headset that could easily adjust the in-game volume but also the chat-audio volume. So I went with a Turtle beach headset which was a big mistake... Awful quality overall but they work. If you are going to buy a heasdset for PS4 use I would recommend the Sony Pulse wireless headset elite edition. That headset was the one I had before and they were awesome until they broke after about 1.5 - 2 years due to cracks in the bottom of the headband (kinda). If you are one of those pc master race guys I would suggest a pair of headphones since you can adjust chat audio with ease on pc no matter your audio setup and they will probably offer better sound quality generally speaking.

+iunpk3di Sennheiser HD598 in that price range is really good. Or you can step down to the HD558 and do the foam mod. The $150 range is kind of a no-man's-land for headphones though.

They absorb sweat? Where do you live? In the sahara desert? I've had these for a month and I usually wear them for 5 to 8 hours straight. I have never ever sweated. Also, complaining about ear pads not being replaceable at a 50 dollar price point (bought them for $67) is absurd. These are budget headphones, sir.

m40x or this one for fps games and music listening?
@Neodude9919 жыл бұрын
I got some Audio Technica's ATH-M30X 's and they great for the price. About the same as these price wise.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM9 жыл бұрын
the m30x are decent but for gaming are terrible. the m-series from audio-technica has no soundstage, by design. They are studio monitors and in no way were meant for gaming. if you replace the pads with HM5 velours it does help the soundstage quite a bit though.
@Neodude9919 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Thought these were good at 1st but now releasing. They also hurt my ears after about a hour use. Prob get those form pads you mentioned to see how much they improve.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM9 жыл бұрын
Dave Longden They are good headphones. They're just not suited for your purposes. The HM5 pads help a lot in that regard.

Godin The Killer The m50x is one of the most revealing headphones I've heard, especially for the price. If there is a flaw in a recording, it's going to stick out like a sore thumb with the m50x. That's why they use it.

+thegameturtle more comfortable or just better sound quality on these?
@SpencerWheelman9 жыл бұрын
here is a more detailed explanation... the shp9500's are more comfortable when you first put them on, but as someone with large ears, they hurt the tips of my ears after a few hours of continual use because the ear cups are very shallow. i bought $65 replacement ear pads for these (Mr Speakers alpha pads) as most cheap replacement pads arent great. they say the shp pads arent removable. theyre wrong, just look it up. the soundstage is slightly better on the 598's and the high range is better, but that is it for sound quality. the 598's are very base light. the shp's have very nice bass and mids and sound better for the kind of music i listen to
@breezcs48629 жыл бұрын

+Jack Hart those aren't the pair I'm thinking about. But those are shit. I bought the phillips anyway, they're great but everyone around you can hear what your listening to, not a problem at home unless I'm using a mic.
@JackOfHarts968 жыл бұрын
crazyninjatiger I use open headphones myself, and the Antlion ModMic, even the Omnidirectional model, doesn't pick up any sound bleed through the headphones. Open headphones are prone to sound leak, you probably should have looked into that before buying them.

Think if you're looking for the best bang for your buck ( open back ) headphones the SHP9500 are the *Best. Go lower for a couple of dollars and you have the Pioneer SE-A1000 or the more popular Superlux HD 668B, and go higher you have the Audio Technica AD500X or even AD700X. Superlux the only other one that has a detachable cable and the others have fixed. Agree there with the non-replaceable ear pads are it's only minus.
@btoiscool9 жыл бұрын

+yuri mitsukashi Because they aren't made anymore. They are only sold around $60-$70 when there's a high stock (aka someone finds some in a warehouse somewhere). They're honestly worth the $100-$150 price tag imo, especially if you have a tube amp. I got to listen to my friend's for 5 hours, and I'm actually getting some now (been waiting for a price drop, better hurry, as there's only 7 left!).
