Philips TV HDMI connection issue with laptop

My Phillips TV loses LCD signal 50 inch 50"52PFL5704D/F7 has latest drivers at of February 2011. I tried 4 HDMI cables and two other TVs from different manufacturers. The other TVs work and the HDMI cables have been found problem free. All 4 of the HDMI ports on this TV lose the connection with the laptop that is running Windows 7. The laptop is NV53 although I also believe my work has found to indicate the laptop is not the issue. I have concluded that Phillips needs to update their drivers. A search on Google will find many other people that have found this issue.

I found a new work-around in case anyone else stumbles upon this video, becomes as frustrated as I did, and needs a solution. By introducing an HDMI switch into the mix, it acted as a buffer and resolved the handshake issue between the computer and the television. I bought a 2-in/1-out HDMI selector switch from Radio Shack (model #15-317). This unit worked for me.

Thanks for the comments. I bought another laptop that works fine on this same TV so I gave the Gatway laptop to my son. The new laptop running Windows 7 with a HDMI output works just fine. I am going to leave this video up so that other people with similar problems don't feel alone.

+Greg Corning I have the same tv and it sucks!! I tried hooking up a computer it would show me the windows symbol then go to the blue screen... I powered on the tv with the xbox one on went into settings and noticed when I hit "menu" then went to "features" there was an extra mode so I went into mode switched it to "pc" instead of hdmi, then switched the hdmi cord to the pc. When i tried to switch the mode on the blue screen the feature for mode switch was not available! hope this makes sense!

+++ Solution +++ If you want default solution then there are different HDMI ports on your philips tv. Choose HDMI 1 ( Because philips has configured this one only as default). Plug cable in laptop. Then in TV HDMI 1 and then power on it will detect the signal. If you want to use the HDMI on side of the TV panel then you have to add your device in your philips setup. Plug cable in laptop Power on TV. Click Home button on remote. Choose Add your device > 1. select your device Other 2. Then in TV connection choose HDMI side (This is why it is not working with side port). Once added and finished you need to power off TV from remote. Then Plug cable in laptop. Then in TV HDMI 1 and then power on it will detect the signal. And it will display your laptop signal on your TV. you have to click the menu button on the remote then choose add new device then choose the computer device then choose what ever hdmi port you want to connect to .

Right click on the desktop, graphics options-output to-extended desktop, clone displays, or pick monitor or television. Well at least that was my solution on my HP Laptop.

had the same issue. switch off TV->unplug from socket->wait few minutes->connect the signal cable->switch on TV and it will work

Try with this. Disable Easylink , disable the hmdi , switch the tv off , switch it on and thats it pretty much... It worked in my case :)

I remember having this same issue before, and i changed HDMI cables, settings and also put on different port HDMI2. I don't remember how I fixed it, but a couple of months later I ran into same problem... and tried this... confirmed working.

Nice bit of trouble shooting there Greg1970c. I have the exact same problem with my HP laptop and one of my Samsung Smart TVs. The TV recognizes that there is a cable but no signal. The HDMI cable and laptop work perfectly with the other Samsung TV. I will contact Samsung to advise that they should also be updating their drivers for this model. Thanks. .

I have the same issue, but there is one "stupid" workaround that works for me. It doesn't matter if you have connected PS / XBOX, laptop or home theatre. Just power on the connected device firstly and then power on the TV. If you have already both powered on, just power off the TV and WAIT!!! few seconds. And then power on the TV (start-up logo musts be visible). Then it WORKS!!! If you power on the TV immediately and the start-up logo doesn't appear, it won't work. I'm trying to find a final solution, but still unsuccessful.

+Ghost Ranger One new workaround. It's not necessary to power off the TV. Just power on the device connected via HDMI (ARC) port (in my case HomeCinema LG) and it will power on also the TV. TV shows me in few seconds that external amplifier is active and switch to the amplifier. TV's speakers are muted, now. Then I have to switch the TV's speakers (on the TV) back to it's own and then to the amplifier again. Then the sound works from the HomeCinema, Playstation, Xbox, laptop, etc.... Only one thing I've found out on the Internet is an information it's a known bug. But no FW with the fix has been released for Philips TVs.

I have the same problem. It worked well at first but then this problem started like after one year of use. I have tried 2 different philips TVs and both of them have the same problem. I have a little LG television which works just fine.

I bought a Philips LED TV with model 32PHA45095/98 (not SMART tv) a few months ago...it has the same problem with the HDMI ports (both 1 and 2) it puzzled me for several days troubleshooting but it just lead me to a big " ? " ....' wondering what seems to be the problem why it does not detect each one of them.....is it the cable? the TV? or it is my gateway comp with windows 7....drivers perhaps? should anyone come up with a solution about these problem....please help by sending me message ...thanks in advance... :)

I have the exact same problem on a desktop PC (No closing lid workaround for me). Works fine on Ubuntu 10.10 so, pretty sure it's a windows driver issue.

I have Toshiba laptop and get no signal on tv, I have to unplug tv so no power going to it then plug it in and it works. If I re boot the computer and get no signal on tv have to change hdmi port then it works cant use the first one again until tv power pulled.

I got the same problem, but with my Xbox360 and laptop it doesn't come on ....it keeps showing no signal, now the tv won't even go on, it keeps blinking red light, i haven't watched t.v for about 2 days, and i tried my xbox360 console on my brothers T.V and it worked, i got the exact same Phillip 32 inch T.V, its bullshit, all i do now is surf the net coz my T.v won't go on and my HDMI port ain't working.
